Thanks to josh for opening this one up, such a treat. Pours a hazy deep brown with a smaller bubbly tan head. Aroma of tart cherries, vanilla, tobacco, toasted malt, dark fruits, bourbon is very light, dang hop notes and pine. Flavor..wow...so much going on here. Tart cherry, vanilla, toasted malt, so complex, oak, light bourbon, tobacco, chestnuts. This had charred barrel particles as floaties...nice.

12 ounce bottel froam a trade from gkost. Poured an extremly dark brown color tha tcoated teh glass as I sipped on it. Aroams of bourbon, tartness, vanilla and and a touch of coffee/roast. Flavor is some coffee, roast, tart vanilla, and bourbon. Really great beer, might have been a little infected, but still drank good in my book.

12oz traded Batch 2 bottle, 2009, 441/450. Nice looking pour with a small brown head that settles quickly into a film. Interesting aroma of bourbon, vanilla and a sour, tartness. Wow, that flavor is not what I expected. Really complex and finishes with a dry, bitter coffee taste. I’m not a huge band wagon member for CCB but this offering is really nice and something different.

Huge thanks to Chad for this bottle... dark brown with a light creamy tan head, good retention at first then falls fast... the nose is very boozy, but its distinctly Maker’s Mark with peat, nice... the taste is fading a bit, the bourbon isn’t there as much more of a scotch ale, a bit of roast... drink this soon

Served from a 12 oz bottle thanks to a generous trade from JW77 a little ways back. The appearance is a deep jet black with a ton of particulate and a small tight bubbled head. The aromas are full of caramel from a chard bourbon barrel, vanilla, scotch, and a slight sourness at times. Love the chard oak and caramel in the nose. The flavors take a bit to warm up to. I am not sure if that is because of the carbonation or the booze, but after a bit the flavors start to shine through. Rich malt profile, bourbon, scotch/gin flavors, barrel, some light chocolate too. The mouth is heavily carbonated which I have some mixed emotions on. It gives this booze in tonic water feel. Overall a tasty blend of fantastic beers. Thanks Johnathan.

Bottle. Pours cloudy brown, nice lasting tan head. Sweetness from bourbon barrels is cut by light funk making for beautiful balance in nose and on tongue, also brown sugars and wood in aroma. Great mouthfeel, again light funk cuts syrupy-ness and balances out sweetness from Bolita/Big Sound. Will try to seek out more.

Trade from rgtravers, thanks man. Batch #2, 2009, 260/450 to celebrate that AC Milan have won their 18th championship. Pours mud brown with a small forever lasting light brown head. Aroma is lots of raisins and dark fruit, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate notes. Flavor is dark fruit, chocolate, alcohol, ripe fruit. Medium carbonated. Nice lacings. Great beer.

12 oz. bottle from one of my FL trading partners- can’t remember who, but thanks to a bunch of great dudes! Bottle #159/450. Pours a dark cocoa brown color with a finger-thick tan head that settles into a nice ring. Aroma of oaky funk, toasted sugar, caramel malts, apples, vanilla, chocolate, and earth; has a little bit of a Jolly Pumpkin character going on. Flavor of roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, caramel malts, oaky funk, tannins, dark fruits, leather, and coffee. Surprisingly funky overall- onset of some infection, perhaps? Didn’t detract, though. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, rich, robust mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lingering booze on the finish. Interesting blend.

’09 notes huge thanks to tpd975 for saving me some of this nectar. This is definitely a more bourbon, boozy approach than Batch1. pours black, thin golden head with insane amounts of golden lacing that stain the glass after it’s empty. Aroma lots of bourbon, chocolate and roasted malts with hints of coffee. Taste, again it’s loaded with tons of bourbon goodness, some wood. Lots of malts, chocolate and vanilla adding some sweetness for a monster beer that is so easy to drink. Bourbon gives the mouthfeel a warming touch, yet everything remains so highly balanced. Beer had medium carbonation because of the growler and will need another review.
