Papsoe (25083) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 25, 2011
Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Beerlando. Pours black and opaque with a small beige head. Intense notes of prunes and raisins in the nose atop a hard roasted maltiness combined with alcohol and wood. Quite full-bodied, hard roasted malt, an edge of ashes, plenty of dried fruit, plenty of wood and booze - but hard to define exactly what. Ends boozy too - but delicious. 220611

Bottle shared at the CL Rosso Batch 3 Release. Pours clear brown. Lots of roasted malt and a bit of smoke and caramel. Some fruit comes out on the palate with a light tartness that makes for an interesting combination.

Damico (2680) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 11, 2011
The beer pours dark chestnut brown with a caramel head that has a thin layer oar ring. The aroma is sweet malts and scotch from the Big Sound. The flavor is a scotch ale blended with the old ale so well with a base of maltiness making it very smooth. The body is solid, medium to big with no alcohol bit at all!

Bottle courtesy of, "hannont". Opened this and it spent about 15 mins. doing a foam snake out of the top! Colour... very dark brown with a frothy tan head. Nose... stone fruit, cocoa and sugar sirop. Palate... frothy, cloying, dark fruits, molasses, un-processed sugar, charcoal, alcohol and earth. A dandy beer and well worth chewing!

Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - MAY 2, 2011
12oz bottle. Rating #81. Bottle courtesy of George. Dark black with some brown highlights and a big brown head that dissipated pretty quickly after the pour. Kind of a funky dark fruit aroma with a bit of alcohol. Nice flavor though, still a slight tartness that i’m picking up, but that is overpowered by a little sweet soy sauce and dark fruits. (1704)

Waxed bottle received in trade and served in Bells Tulip: Pours a deep purplish brown with almost no head and some oily legs, no lace. The aroma has notes of rye bread, chocolate, walnuts, caramel, tar, green grass, solvent alcohol and an annoying sour cherry pit infection. While there is a nice layer of sweet malts, rye bread, cocoa, tobacco, and earthy tones on the palate the twangy fruit infection character sort of ruins the experience. Additionally, the finish is sort of blah and lacks any punch. Slightly spicy but without an focus. This off-putting tone carries on toward the mouth feel, the lack of carbonation makes this utterly boring to drink and lets an ashy burnt tone just sit on the back of the tongue. The sourness could refresh the palate but does not, an oily note is the only thing that kept me from rating the mouth feel a 1. Overall, a few good moments overwhelmed by far too many character flaws. Good idea but poor execution.
