A new top 100 beer, courtesy of Shawn. Absoutely delicious, rye edge and perfect somewhat sweet chocolate tangle in a porter aged in oak. Some woodiness there leving a drying finish. Good from the first drop to the last, so great drinkability. Pours dark chocolate colour with great foaming head. Perfumey, spicey chocolate and fresh rye. Thickish body.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle @ home, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks Armin! Pours a murky dark brown head with a bubbly dark brown head. Bourbon, a bit tangy fruity, lightly spicy rye, caramel, a bit oxidized aroma. Roasty, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, somewhat tangy, dark fruity, bourbon flavor. A little disjointed. Not too hard to drink but seems to have multiple personalities.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355mL copper wax thanks to the CCB collector’s box at RBWG Grand Tasting. Never thought I’d get to try this one. Pours a clear cola brown with a larger than expected tan head. A bit overcarbonated. Nose is infected but nice- red wine barrel, funky, bourbon, malted milk balls, vanilla, macadamia nuts, powdered milk. Strange but I like it. Taste is sweet tomato paste, sugar, sticky caramel, denser sugary body. Not quite drained from the infection. Aerated palate with some remaining silkiness. A bizarre, but fun beer that is slowly souring in the bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. Poured deep brown with a huge, fluffy dark tan head. The aroma picked up sweet and metallic bourbon, rye, and oak over roasty, yet softer chocolates and warm molasses.. seemed like a sweet base.. solid overall. The flavor opened with tangy oak, bourbon, and peppery alcohol, with warm, aged caramel and molasses behind.. a touch of smoky character not far after that.. finished dry with grainy barrel and residual sugars.. darker fruit at the very back. Medium-bodied with a whole lot of carbonation on the palate.. filled up the mouth a bit too fast.. other than that, everything came together well. Interesting brew.

Bottle shared by koopa at beerloco’s. Pours black with brown head. Nose and taste of barrel, chocolate, musky roast rye, caramel and toffee candy. Light acidic tartness probably due to the Big Sound.

Pour courtesy of the every amazing JW77. Pours very dark chocolate with mahogany edges and mocha head. The aroma is chocolate, vanilla, oak, some bourbon like booze, fruitiness from citrus and dark fruity esters as well as pleasing thin ribbons of toffee and caramel. The taste has rich flavors of dark roasted malts, toffee and caramel moving into a firm booziness, vanilla, some oak and echoes of citrusy hops. Nice.

Bottle. Huge kudos to Hopscotch for bringing me this baby! It pours pitch black with a medium creamy tan head. The aroma is dark fruity and oaky with notes of chocolate, red grapes, light coffee and some hard roasted malt. The flavour is vinous and oaky. Notes of raisins, plum, chocolate, sweet caramel, sweet malt, roasted malt, light coffee and sweet tobacco. Light soy in the finish. Very lovely and complex brew! Wow!
