This one awesome. One of the better barrel aged beers I’ve had in a while. Aroma is sweet, rich fruit, cognac which also comes across as port like. Light on the barrel, not too much wood overpowering. Flavor is great. Smooth, sweet, not too cloying. Figgy and jam like and finished clean.

@Maxx’s TURD Tasting thanks Max-12oz bottle-pours hazy copper with a light tan head. Aroma is cognac-medium fruit, medium malt. Taste is cognac-medium fruit, medium malt, earthy hops.

12oz bottle. Thanks to Joey... Pours a somewhat transparent, mostly transparent, paler than cola hue and topped with a quickly dissipating frothy light beige head... Aroma is super rich and sweet with dark fruit, raisiny. Sense the booze in this one. Caramel and toffee, a bit overwhelming... Flavors are more of the same, rich sweet and boozy throughout with notes of dark fruit and caramel toffee which become the focus. Body is just about medium in profile with somewhat lively carbonation. Boozy with strength to it. Needs to mellow.

Bottle shared by MaxxDaddy. Very sweet, some oxidation notes, metal, brown sugar. A little too sweet overall.

big and boozy up front, a bit hot and malt forward. Full bodied, loads of vanilla/oak. Great sipping beer by the firepit. Needs a year or so to mellow out and shine

Bottle at Max’s for the TURD Tasting. Pours a deep brownish mahogany with no head, fizzy carbonated lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, toffee, vanilla and oak. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with a nice carbonated feel and notes of vanilla, oak, sweet dark raisins, cherries, light sweet booze, and some molasses.

blipp (3920) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - APR 22, 2012
Bottle at the TURD tasting. Pours brown with a beige head. Sweet sweet malty aroma, with sweet generic liquor barrel. The flavor has sweet caramel and sugar, light dark fruits, vanilla, and a hint of wood. A touch too sweet, but otherwise not that bad.

Bottle generously shared by MaxxDaddy at his tasting. Pours brown. Nose/taste of wood, sweet malt, cognac barrel, brown sugar, caramel and toffee. Mouth feel is sweet. Medium body.

j12601 (4435) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - APR 21, 2012
Bottle at a tasting at Max’s courtesy of Max for Sam’s visit. Pours a hazed dark amber with a thin white head. Malty and sweet on the nose, a touch of wood. Medium bodied, super sweet. Tons of brown sugar and just flat out sugar. Way too sweet. Cloying and a struggle to drink. Finishes with lingering sweetness and caramel. I think I need to prick my finger and start testing.

Bottled. Rank, boozy aroma. Not so much cognac as stale barrel. Vanilla, orange marmalade, so incredibly sweet it kills me. Disgusting.
