On tap at CCB. Nose is molasses, sweet cherries, chocolate, and a nice amount of roast. Pour is jet black with a tan head. Overall, this one had a creamy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Tate is full of cherry flavor and chocolate. Light molasses and woody/roasty notes in the background. Good but very rich and sweet, like dessert in a glass.

On tap at the CCB tasting room while vacationing in Tampa late summer 2012; Awesome, extreme appearance, very dark body and head which faded to a ring; flavors and aromas of dark chocolate and coffee with cherry cleaning up and adding a punch of color; very deep, rich, and exceptionally smooth

Dark brown pour, brown head. Chocolate covered cherries liquified and turned into an alcoholic wonder. Loved this beer.

Shared from a growler by Ibrew2or3. Dark black pour with a thin tan head. It is nice and roasty with some definite dark chocolate, cherry comes through a in the flavor with some sweet molasses. Good stuff!!!

Poured up on tap at the CCB brewpub with very dark body with mahogany hues and thin tan head. The aroma is big with a lactose like note mixing dark roasted malts, rich dark chocolate and a touch of black licorice. The taste is rich with pleasing levels of dark roasted malts, nearly burnt malts, some chocolate and then a rich cherry juice nectar like quality. It then rolls into smooth sweet nectar enhanced black strap molasses. Into the finish the cherry sweetness with prune and near raisin nuances keep pace with the various malty notes to make for a pleasing “sipper” like beer experience.

Sample at the tap room. Pours a flat black color with a thin light beige head that disappears quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate and cherries. Rich and smooth body with flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate and malt. The finish is chocolate cherry liqueur. Pretty good overall.

On tap at CCB. Pours black with no head. Big boozy cherry and dark roasted grain aroma. Lighter cherry in the taste, but lots more dark roasted grain and a nice thick body. Tasty and hides the 10.5 abv well.

On draft at the Cigar City Tasting Room. Pours a typical stout brown with a tan head. Nose is roast, dark chocolate, and some black cherry/ dark cherry. Flavor is similar with roast and chocolate followed by a burst of cherry. Medium in body and pretty nice overall.

Snifter at the Cigar City tasting room: looks and pours a pitch black with an aroma of cherry, coffee and the malts. Taste is lovely , sweet ( but not too sweet) with the 10.5 alcohol totally hidden. The weak point is its totally flat. Not that that is a problem for me personally. Great offering from CC!
