3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Pours a nutty, mahogany brown color with slight clarity, topped with a swampy ecru skin that turns into an actual head when the glass is swirled. Initial aroma has a strange, almost tart dark fruitiness that was throwing me off, but it seems to subside with some warmth/time. Successive inhales bring out rich coffee beans, like sticking your nose into a fresh whole bean bag. Notes of roasted nuts, tobacco, toffee, & dried dark fruits make their way in, too. Taste has a very woodsy essence with a big nuttiness that leads into a huge coffee bean profile. Good mix of roasty & just lightly sweet. Touch of cocoa powder with more coffee & nuts in the finish. Aftertaste has a very slight staleness but nothing too concerning. I know itís just a brown ale, but a little more creaminess in the body would do this one well. Good flavor for the ABV, not a bad brown at all.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from can to glass. Opaque hue with fizzy brown head that settled into a lingering ring. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roast, vanilla, toffee, tin. Mouthfeel is nice with a full body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by an astringent bitterness in the following and finishing with a slight metallic zing. Overall this is a nice brew but I canít get over the tin/metallic aspect.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma was pretty much what I expected but I kept smelling hints of coconut , but mostly lots of coffee.
Appearance was brown, about 30 SRM, off white head, not too overwhelming, and left some minor lacing.
I wasnít too crazy about the taste. It tasted more like an Italian style espresso than a Cuban coffee...I feel like this needed to be a tad bit sweeter, and overall I enjoyed the Maduro much more.
Overall, nice try but Iím not gonna be writing poems about this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz Can. Tasted on 7/14/14. Beer from Cigar City Brewery. The beer pours to a deep brown color with a medium off white head. The aroma has a strong coffee/ espresso & the taste is also upfront with a lot of espresso. The finish is pretty bitter & the espresso lingers. Overall a very different flavor for a brown ale. Worth a try.

Growler from ABC Thomasville Road:
I have had this beer enough to dream of it. Rich roast flavor hits the nose with an equally roasted malt thatís not overwhelming and not to be ignored.
Deep brown color backed by mocha head.
A complex beer for a simple formula: howís about add espresso to a brown ale.
Roast nut touch of chocolate coffee
malt of light variety
This is nearly perfect in every aspect. Well done and time for another pouring.

Hog shack bottle share. Cloudy brown. Aroma of charred soggy wood, chili, coffee. Taste is sweet, with a bit of tart. Palate is pretty thin, with an odd "I wanna be good" finish. Very late stickiness and subtle dryness.
