COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The humble gherkin. Usually we encounter this unassuming green fruit pickled or sliced and flung atop a salad. But the cucumber has so much more to offer us. It is a remarkably refreshing gourd with the power to cool a dry tongue and when just two sliced wheels are placed atop the eyes of a lounging lass in a stock photo ad for a spa the mythical cucumber has the magical ability to justify obscene spa service fees. Truly an amazing botanical gift to the world. We chose to employ the cucumber in a low gravity Saison to create a refreshing seasonal ale redolent with notes of honey, tropical fruit, lemon bitterness, and of course cucumbers. Brewed as a survival tool for the Florida Summer this cucumber creation features Citra and Sorachi Ace hops. So put some cucumber wheels on your eyes, lean back, relax and enjoy. Ahhhhhhh.

Draught at the Pony Bars Cigar City Event NYC sept 2012. Yellow hazy beer with a huge white head. Sweetish, cucuber aroma and flavour. I really enjoyed this one :-)

Massively over-carbed. Like, ridiculously. Let this bad boy sit in the corner for a few min before serving. Smells like cucumbers, taste is similarly vegetal and a bit watery, which fits perfectly. Well executed, hard to drink more than 2-3oz though.

Bottle. Low fill, visually quite a bit under 750ml. Pours with a hazed yellow hue and a large and lasting white head. Aroma is definitly of cucumber, earthy, grassy, husky, almost a touch of DMS, waxy and lightly peppery phenolic. Almost a touch pickle/brine like. Seems more cucumber skins than the interior of cucumbers (spa water). Lightly herbal/ citrusy. Flavors are of earthy and pepper saison, bready, peppercorns mild phenols and brine, almost a light DMS. Very mild acidity, earthy, cucumber. Very lively carbonation. A touch soapy as it warms. Dry, earthy and refreshing. Odd, different, decent.

Reviewed 12/31/2012. Thanks to Momar42 for the bottle sharing! Part of a 750mL bottle poured into a Hunahpu’s snifter. Notes from last night’s Skins/Cowboys game. A: Pours a cloudy golden color. The head is a one finger white shade with great texturing. S: A lot of cucumber on the nose - like whoa. Best part is how it combines with a touch of acetic, vinegary tartness to create a vibe of pickles. Pickles in beer - and I’m enjoying it. T: The flavor profile loses the faint hint of tartness in the nose, so there are less ’pickle’ qualities and more ’cucumber’ ones. Rather simple, unfortunately - the only other significant note I can detect are some midpalate tropical fruits and a vague hint of bready malts. Having said that, the singular flavors this provides are balanced and melded superbly. M: At first sip, it seems heavy, thick, and almost yeasty...and then it leaves the palate in a rapid fashion. The finish is pure crisp, dry, light goodness. Well carbonated and so damn refreshing. O: Shockingly good! This could make me enjoy cucumber a lot more...well played, Cigar City. This would be fantastic in the summer time.

A very intriguing brew. At first I’m thinking no way this can be any good. Then I open it and get a great aroma with yes cucumbers. The flavor has the cucumber up front but it quickly fades to a very nice drinkable saison. Definitely for the warmer weather though. Very refreshing and easy to belt down a few.

750mL bottle, sent from LateStart (thanks Jordan), pours a hazy golden orange with a humungous white head. Aroma of pure cucumber, a sort of white wine quality and some acidity. Flavour of pure cucumbers, surprisingly used really well, some white wine notes and low acidity. Intensely carbonated, but it is somehow fitting, bringing out the cucumber notes pungently along with the vinous notes. Surprisingly great – very enjoyable.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured a clear pale color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate cooked vegetables and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium cucumber sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met.

Bottle shared at the CBC First Birthday Party, London - big thanks to The Cad for bringing out this saison. Pours hazy yellow with a fine, white foam head. Big, authentic cucumber nose. Sweet flavor, lots of pale malts, light citrus and spices, more cucumber. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, white bread pale malts, mellow cucumber notes. Pretty refreshing stuff and impressive cucumber integration.

750ml bottle, bottled June 2012, shared. Mostly clear yellow orange color, thin white head. Some loose lace. Wow, spot-on cucumber nose. Soft, stronger carbonation, medium body. Really interesting and unique, but I’m not sure that I prefer this over a regular saison. Lacks that farmhouse yeast character. Very vegetal flavor. Weird beer
