3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A soft pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip still produces a four finger thick, and overflowing, off-white head. The beer is a dark gold / bright amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, bright gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma is ripe with cucumber aromatics; it smells green like cucumber skins freshly skinned. Underneath this is a hint of floral and fruit notes that smells a bit like papaya (but seems purely from the cucumber character), a hint of straw like grain character.
Up front the beer tastes of cracker like and straw like grain, there is a hint of savoriness to the cracker like malt, and the body has just a hint of viscous malt character, though this is definitely a light and refreshing beer. The cucumber flavors are actually more prominent when eating the overflowing foam, but it is still quite prominent here; definitely cucumber, but it leans towards a bit green, mint leaning, crisp cucumber flesh, almost with a perceived sweet edge to the cucumber bite, perhaps even a hint of tartness, and lots of cucumber bitterness that coats the palate after each sip. Lemon like notes, touches of tangelo zest, Meyer Lemon, and some herbal menthol notes that are contributed by the hop character.
Certainly a one trick pony, but an interesting one that I am quite happy to have tried. The cucumber character comes thorugh here quite cleanly, but if you contemplate it, the flavors become disparate, separately noticeable in interesting floral, fruit, green, and herbal notes that join back to form that recognizable cucumber bite. This certainly gets a big boost for being unique, the next one wonít have quite the same effect, but none of that is necessary for now. Even the hop character melds and boosts the cucumber notes.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
A - Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal place leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of grainy malts, citrus, tropical, and lemon hops, cucumber, Belgian yeast, and coriander.
T - Starts off with a mix of lemon and grapefruit hops with some bitterness and some grainy malts and coriander. Through the middle the cucumber comes through with some honey and Belgian yeast. The finish is a mix of lemon and citrus hops with some bitterness, honey, cucumber, grains, and Belgian yeast.
M - Medium bodied with moderate-plus carbonation. Feels smooth with a vegetative, dry, and yeasty finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really nicely balanced with the cucumber adding a really nice element to the beer.

750 from PUBíR via the Sergeant-at-arms of PUBíR, whose identity is a closely guarded secret. The pour here is turbid gold foil color with 3-finger white head that is fizzy. Nose is hopcitrus, some spices and funk, and pale malt. Tastes of pale malt, minor funk, a nice earthy liquid cucumber flavor, and some finishing sweetness. The cucumber works great in this, and Iíd kill to drink it with a few Greek gyros, or even a bowlful of tzatziki and pita bread.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Moderate grain for the malt, light herbs and soap for the hops and yeast with a big hint of cucumber. Head is small, fizzy, white with no lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear, hazy on the last pour, light amber. Flavor starts moderately to heavily acidic and a bit sour, then finishes moderately acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is light, dry with a fizzy carbonation and a tart and dry finish. Very refreshing, very unique. The use of cucumber in this Saison is pronounced, but still remains subtle. I couldíve easily called this a Berliner Weisse.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL bottle. Poured clear, lighter golden with a sticky white head.. nice lacing. The aroma picked up a lot of cucumber accented by citrusy hops.. interesting, but one-dimensional. The flavor opened with floral and citrus bitterness plus a little sourness and cucumber coolness.. bready and pale malts at the core.. cucumber flavor ramped up through the finish, and it really dried out back there. Medium-bodied with lower carbonation on the palate.. fresh, earthy, and spicy.. glad to have tried it, but I wonít try and get another.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at the DBLDP on 09/02/2012: This brew pours a cloudy pale golden color with a medium fluffy white head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fresh cucumbers and malt. Light-bodied with cucumber flavor dominating, with slight malt and yeast in the background. The finish is dry with a cucumbery aftertaste. I like cucumbers so I find this beer refreshing and enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great summer brew and terrifically different! The cucumber saison poured a nice hazy golden. The aroma had cucumber, yeast, lemon, and melon. The taste followed suit but the cucumber hung in there and didnít dominate. Great balance with the earthiness of the farmhouse style yeast. The hops with noticeable in the finish. A little bit of peppery spice gave made it almost taste like a southern treat of cuke slices bathed in vinegar and sprinkled with pepper.Perfect mouthfeel that made the beer extra drinkable and refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle from smith4498, thanks Jason! Pours an orange-gold colored body with an inch thick, dense and foamy, cream-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is huge fresh cucumbers up front with a light yeast spice behind. Light bready malts and touches of citrus grass. Flavor is similar. Big fresh cucumber, a light bready malt, hint of honey sweetness, light yeasty pepper, and a slightly grassy citrus note. Finishes pretty clean and crisp with a light dryness and touch of bready malt sweetness with a lingering cucumber. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and a pretty foamy carbonation. Overall, a pretty interesting saison. Huge cucumber character, but I really like cucumbers and there is enough of a spicing, bready malt, and light citrus to keep things balanced. Quite refreshing and crisp as well. I was a fan.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Straw colored pour w/ a small bubbled white head. Aroma is lots of cucumber and some peppers. Palate is about avg. Flavor is cucumber and a good amount of peppercorns. The peppery notes are a bit odd and overpowering. OK and unique, but not very good.
