COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The humble gherkin. Usually we encounter this unassuming green fruit pickled or sliced and flung atop a salad. But the cucumber has so much more to offer us. It is a remarkably refreshing gourd with the power to cool a dry tongue and when just two sliced wheels are placed atop the eyes of a lounging lass in a stock photo ad for a spa the mythical cucumber has the magical ability to justify obscene spa service fees. Truly an amazing botanical gift to the world. We chose to employ the cucumber in a low gravity Saison to create a refreshing seasonal ale redolent with notes of honey, tropical fruit, lemon bitterness, and of course cucumbers. Brewed as a survival tool for the Florida Summer this cucumber creation features Citra and Sorachi Ace hops. So put some cucumber wheels on your eyes, lean back, relax and enjoy. Ahhhhhhh.

Bottle 750ml. @ The Danish Summer Gathering, TFODRBSG12, Ulfborg.

Clear medium yellow colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy cucumber, cucumber peel, dill. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dill, green cucumber. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. IMO. a very strange beer but pleasent. [20120818]

750ml from the Rare Beer Club. I enjoyed this *way* more than Sam and slightly more than Bob too. Nice medium orange pour, well carbonated, and soft cuke in the nose along with dry yeast and saison spice. The kind of understated cuke you get when you’re garlanding a nice fish or making a mellow salad. But then that’s the nature of the vegetable, so I didn’t find it at all obtrusive, just a kind of lambent note throughout a better than average saison.

Pours clear pale copper color with white head. Smells like cucumbers with faint toasted malts and light yeast. Similar flavors. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Not a fan of this one.

Light beer. Slightly hazy golden with a thin white head. Not as pickly to me as TURD thought; definitely cucumber, though, and lemongrass, and mild sweetness. Some Sorachi Ace action, but not very hoppy. I can’t say I’d like to drink much of this, but could see this being a really nice complement to Thai food or something spicy like that.

Bottle shared by JCB. Pours light hazy golden with minimal white lace . Nose is pickles, dill, pickle juice, light yeasty esters. Flavor is just like it smells, more pickle juice, light herbal hops, grass. Not a fan at all.

750mL bottle courtesy of markwise pours a fairly deep gold with a bit of haze and fluffy near white head. Man oh man, the aroma is straight up freshly sliced cold cucumber. I can smell the skin and the seeds and the anticipation of what is this going to taste like. Well it tastes just about the same. It is like chomping on freshly cut slices of cold cucumber, that’s right not room temp or warm cucumber but cold cucumber. Behind all the cucumber notes are mild levels of nearly punchy saison yeasty spices and a sense of vague sweetness off in the background. So, I’ve never had a beer that is anywhere close to this in aroma or flavor so there’s certainly additional merit in that.

750 ml. Cloudy, golden body. Big white forthy head. Aroma of cucumber, grass, toasted grain. Hint of melon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter, lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Dry, bitter finish, the bitterness seemingly arising from bitter cucumber rind. Medium body, watery texture turning sticky, lively carbonation. Some garden dirt tastes along with sweet cucumber pulp. You’ve got to like cucumber to like this beer because there’s a lot of it. In fact, too much of it for my tastes. Got tired of it. Applaud the effort at uniqueness, though.

Pretty good beer except the cuke goes a long way. Poured at a good temperature with a nice, billowy, foamy, off-white head that settles after a bit and a smidgen of lace. Color is a a hazy amber. Flavor’s like nose, cuke really dominates and offsets all the other qualities. Body and carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor, with the cuke wasn’t so assertive, not a repeater.

Knightly Spirits bottle. That sure is interesting. My impressions ran from honeydew to pickle but it did settle out to cucmber. I just kept thinking about Bath &Bodyworks cucmber soap. Definitiely unique but also definitely drinkable.

750 ml bottle via trade with smith4498 - Pours a hazy golden color with a two finger thick off white head. Very light lacing. Aroma is cucumber. What a surprise. Flavor is also cucumber with hints of honey and citrus. Finish is slightly sweet with the cuc flavor lingering. Very little bitterness. Medium body. A pleasant beer to sit on the front porch with while enjoy this warm Sept. afternoon. Thanks Jason.
