2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
sample at Ale Alpharetta on 7/19/12. pours a hazy deep golden with a white head. the nose is all cucumber with a bit of odd spices. light to med body with more cucumber essence and light Belgian yeast esters. semi-dry finish with citrus and cucumber. glad I got a sample, b/c I wouldn’t want any more than that. odd beer.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pour from Armin, thanks! Exactly as advertised, cucumber through and through. Pour is a hazy gold, with a white head that lasts. Aroma is cucumber peel, mint, dill. Taste is pretty much the same. Really odd, but in a good way. Dry. Effervescent. Tasty. Thanks Armin

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle on my balcony with John, Ryan, and Eddie. Thanks again man! Poured a golden orange with a fluffy white head. Smell is big cucumber, light funk, light spice, and dill. Flavor follows suit with flavors of cucumber, dill, spice, lemon, and a touch of funk. Dry and crisp, with a light body and fizzy carbonation. Cool idea, yet kind of weird, but somehow works; I can’t explain it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pale gold out of the bottle with a fizzy white head. The nose reminds me of a cucumber dill sauce. Really weird for a beer. Light on the tongue. Flavors of cucumber, dill, lemon, and hints of funk in the finish. Surprisingly refreshing.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml bottle from Liquor Loft. Yellow pour with a big fluffy head that leaves a solid quarter inch retention. Aroma is cucumber, spice and yeast. Tastes are cucumber... lots of cucumber. Also pickles and yeast. So, I don’t know what I was expecting here, but I was excited about this -- think maybe I was hoping for a mix of barnyard saison funk mixed with the cucumber. This is just straight up vegetable tasting cucumber brew. If that was the goal, they nailed it. I’m up for any CC concoctions, but man... this was rough.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy golden color with a nice head. Nose is fresh cucumber with a "garden" smell.....quite pleasant and different. Taste is sweet with cucumber
predominance and light and drinkable... also a musty note but not in a negative way. Finish is sweet and ends as it starts with a cucumber predominance.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy gold with a white head and unique aroma of fresh cucumber and floral notes. Taste is certainly of cucumber, along with fruits, honey, and hops, while with a sweet finish. Very unique brew featuring cucumber, that drinks easy and tastes good.

3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2012 2012 Edition
Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy medium gold with a 3 finger frothy eggshell white head. Nice head retention with the head finally leaving a small layer of foam which sort of pools in the middle. Decent lacing.
Smell: Earthy saison notes with freshly cut cucumbers dominating. I detect a touch of melon as well. It’s a nice, refreshing aroma that doesn’t overpower.
Taste: Sweet, fresh cucumber mixed with bitter cucumber rind up front with a touch of mango followed by mild traditional saison notes and a touch of honey in the middle before ending with melon and more cucumber. Aftertaste is bitter cucumber rind, black pepper and a touch of sweet melon. Very complex flavor that is fairly refreshing.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied with a high amount of prickly carbonation.
Drinkability: Decent drinkability, but you will want to share the bottle with a friend. I couldn’t finish my second glass.
Overall: Pretty good beer overall. I like that Cigar City pushes the envelope. Cucumber is not something I typically associate with beer and there may be a good reason for that. That said, it’s a solid beer that is worth a try.
