COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The humble gherkin. Usually we encounter this unassuming green fruit pickled or sliced and flung atop a salad. But the cucumber has so much more to offer us. It is a remarkably refreshing gourd with the power to cool a dry tongue and when just two sliced wheels are placed atop the eyes of a lounging lass in a stock photo ad for a spa the mythical cucumber has the magical ability to justify obscene spa service fees. Truly an amazing botanical gift to the world. We chose to employ the cucumber in a low gravity Saison to create a refreshing seasonal ale redolent with notes of honey, tropical fruit, lemon bitterness, and of course cucumbers. Brewed as a survival tool for the Florida Summer this cucumber creation features Citra and Sorachi Ace hops. So put some cucumber wheels on your eyes, lean back, relax and enjoy. Ahhhhhhh.

Bottle from Fermentation Market. Hazy golden pour with a fluffy white head. Nose is fresh chopped cucumber, light lemon peels, and a touch of yeast. Earthiness in the flavor with more cucumber, touch of pale malts, pepper and yeast. Finishes with some spicy bitterness. Not too shabby.

Acquired this in a trade for some local beers. Poured into a white wine glass at fridge temp. 2012 Vintage.

A - Cloudy orange glow. SRM of 10. Solid white head with tiny bubbles of 3 fingers that subsides quickly.

S - Smells like a freaking salad. So bright and flowery like fresh cut carrots, cucumber and sunflower seeds. Mineral water. Little bit of lemon in here as well.

T - Hmm. Well, the start is actually pretty nice. Peppery dry saison taste with nice simple farmhouse style hit on the tongue. Then, this massive cucumber and iceberg lettuce comes through and it all goes down hill. Finish is lemon or grapefruit juice.

M - 80% carbonation. Medium body. Dry tangy cucumber and lemon taste.

O - I honestly don’t know. I certainly wouldn’t have it again. It’s not too refreshing really. I guess if you love cucumbers? IDK.

750 ml bottle shared by umr_urgefan- thanks again, Paul! Pours a pale, hazed gold with a small white head. The aroma is dominated by cucumber, with some lemon citrus and grassy, vegetal funk. The flavor is led by cucumber but not as overhwelmed as the nose, with notes of citrus, funk, straw, and apple. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a clean, crisp mouthfeel. I like cucumbers so this worked for me. Not everyone in the tasting group agreed.

on tap-pours hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is cucumber, light malt, slight spice. Taste is cucumber, spice, sweet light malt-bready. Easy.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2012 on tap at CCB. light, citrus/green, not overly funky, some saison notes but the yeast plays a background role here. tasty stuff. Very refreshing stuff! Update-out of the bottle about a month old. I would say drink this as fresh as possible as the cucumber may be starting to fade. Still great aroma and flavor but it was more vibrant on tap. I can also say from my own grad school research that cucumber can degrade into cardboard and highly oxidized flavor. So enjoy it during the summer as intended.

This was a fun beer to drink, lots of cucumber in the scent in nose. The aroma has a more lighter, lemongrass twang to it however. Lots of cucumber and light citrus in the body - I can see this pairing beautifully with a cold-cut sandwich. Cheers!

Draft at Cigar City during Hunahpu Day 2012. Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a two finger frothy white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. I was expecting this beer to look and smell like a ridiculous vegetable novelty but it has mostly saison characteristics with subtle cucumber melon notes. Aroma has some earthy farmhouse yeast along with subtle spice and bread followed by a strong but not overpowering cucumber salad presence. Medium bodied with some zesty pepper and coriander spice up front that lingers over the funky farmhouse and bready yeast notes before finishing with a refreshing cucumber melon flavor in the finish. The cucumber is more prominent than the nose suggests but ts not over the top or unpleasant at all. Really light and refreshing, making this beer extremely drinkable. I was skeptical going in but this beer was a surprise sleeper for me.

Tap at CCB. Nose is intense fresh cucumber, some light pepper, grain, and a very faint sour, almost fruity, note. Pour is yellow with a white head. Taste is very refreshing. All cucumber. Some grain on the finish and a touch of lemon zest. Very nice on a hot day and a good change between sippin’ on that brandy zhukov. Great!!

Thanks to Armin for sharing - turbid gold - fizzy - smells like fresh cucumber puree, lemon, bready yeast - taste of light grain, chalk, dull yeastiness and strong cucumber - light spice in the finish - lingering wheat.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Mike! Hazy golden pour with nice fluffy white head, aroma has notes of big cucumber, pear, peach, some white grape, biscuit, bready notes with some yeast, touch of grape. Taste is lots of cucumber, with a slight hint of spice, lemon, finishing with more cucumber. Like cucumber juice, very refreshing, but tasty.
