The humble gherkin. Usually we encounter this unassuming green fruit pickled or sliced and flung atop a salad. But the cucumber has so much more to offer us. It is a remarkably refreshing gourd with the power to cool a dry tongue and when just two sliced wheels are placed atop the eyes of a lounging lass in a stock photo ad for a spa the mythical cucumber has the magical ability to justify obscene spa service fees. Truly an amazing botanical gift to the world. We chose to employ the cucumber in a low gravity Saison to create a refreshing seasonal ale redolent with notes of honey, tropical fruit, lemon bitterness, and of course cucumbers. Brewed as a survival tool for the Florida Summer this cucumber creation features Citra and Sorachi Ace hops. So put some cucumber wheels on your eyes, lean back, relax and enjoy. Ahhhhhhh.

From trade with Tampaheel-thanks, man! Light yellow, clear. Nose is strong cucumber. Taste is cucumber, and oddly, pickling spices, like a gerkin, but not sour. Interesting, refreshing, and nails what it is going for, but ultimately pretty gimmicky.

Bottle share at Syb Pig. First off if you don’t like cucumbers don’t bother with this beer. I thought I liked cucumbers until I drank this beer. I like the crunch of one with some vinegar and oil on a salad...but the juices of a cucumber?? Not so much. Small snifter. Kind of a yellowish white with a foamy head. Some lacing. The aroma was powerful cucumber and pepper. (white pepper, not green or red pepper.) The taste was slightly less cucumber than the aroma, but still very dominant. Also a hint of deli pickle, white pepper, bitter hops and a tang of citrus. Medium light body, but kind of oily. Medium carbonation. Not my cup of beer.

Bottle shared by sloth... Thanks for sharing bert??? LoL...Any way..... Smells like cucumber... Taste like a cucumber salad... 3 ounces was enough. Never thought to myself.... "you know what this beer is missing? Cucumber, lets add some cucumber... " Well, Cigar City did... If you have a cucumber obsession, than this is for you.... if not.... you can pass on this beer. The base beer (saison) and body of this beer are bad as well... Watery... thin... just cant get over the cucumber taste and smell.

Tap at GABF 2013. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is unsurprisingly big cucumber. The flavour is watery acid cucumber with a sharp watery cucumber palate. If you like cucumber you will like this beer. If you don’t then move on. It’s like flavoured water.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2013 750 from knightly williamsburg. Aroma is dandelion greens, wet foliage and fresh surf. Appearance is murky blonde with heavy carb, healthy head and nice legs. Flavor is salty then sweet vegetation, strong cucumber with light acidity. Buried yeast with just hints of flashing funk. cucumber becoming nearly gag worthy about half way through the bottle. cloying and foul.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/29/2013. Pours lightly hazy bright golden amber color with a 3 finger foamy and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big fresh cucumber, lemon, pear, pepper, clove, coriander, floral, herbal, grass, cracker, and yeast earthiness. Nice and unique aromas with good complexity of yeast esters with big cucumber presence; with decent balance and good strength. Taste of cucumber, lemon, pear, apple, pepper, clove, coriander, herbal, grass, cracker, bread, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of lemon, cucumber, pear, pepper, clove, coriander, herbal, grass, cracker, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of yeast ester, cucumber, and malt flavors; with a nice malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice and unique saison style. Well balanced yeast ester, cucumber, and malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
