The humble gherkin. Usually we encounter this unassuming green fruit pickled or sliced and flung atop a salad. But the cucumber has so much more to offer us. It is a remarkably refreshing gourd with the power to cool a dry tongue and when just two sliced wheels are placed atop the eyes of a lounging lass in a stock photo ad for a spa the mythical cucumber has the magical ability to justify obscene spa service fees. Truly an amazing botanical gift to the world. We chose to employ the cucumber in a low gravity Saison to create a refreshing seasonal ale redolent with notes of honey, tropical fruit, lemon bitterness, and of course cucumbers. Brewed as a survival tool for the Florida Summer this cucumber creation features Citra and Sorachi Ace hops. So put some cucumber wheels on your eyes, lean back, relax and enjoy. Ahhhhhhh.

Gherkins aren’t just for jerkin’. They’re for drinkin’. Wow. More than 900 reviews later, and I’m still as weird and immature as I was with my first rating. Oh well. What could be more satisfying than combining a staple summer beer with a gourd renowned for its thirst-quenching abilities. Not much, that’s what. Sometimes, beers like this take on a strange vegetable aroma and taste that’s unpleasant. Somehow, Cucumber Saison manages to smell and taste completely like a cucumber without being the least bit offensive. There are the fruity, spicy, and earthy elements - like in many Saisons - and they blend wonderfully with the cucumber. And did I mention refreshing?

Bottle. A- Cucumbers, dirt. A- Light orange color, slightly hazy liquid, white head. T- Cucumbers, slightly musty. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, refreshing finish. O- This seems like one of those beers you either love or hate. I was no doubt on the lover side of things. Is that disturbing since it’s a cucumber beer? Or am I just been perverted now. I digress. Smells and tastes just like a cucumber. Very refreshing. Not out of this world but I’d love to have a few more of these for the dog days of summer....instead of drinking it on a 20 degree night in November like I just did.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Clear golden body with a thin white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of gin, cucumber and mint. Refreshing flavour of cucumber, tonic water and cereal. Thin to medium body with a spritzy mouthfeel. Light fizz. Really good, but quite pricey at £3.25 for a third pint.

Awesome trade as always with Mr.Simonelli. Thanks Mike. Pours a golden colour, lots if carbonation, decent white head that recedes to a thin film, no lacing. Nose is dominantly cucumber, followed by fruit, very very light sweet malt. Tastes sweet, cucumber is in the forefront, giving way to a touch of hop and a little tropical fruit, there is a jolly rancher essence too. Been waiting to try this for awhile, and I really do like this strange brew.

Sampled at Midwest Belgian Beer Fest 2015 - Pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma has pale malt, cucumbers and veggie fleshiness. It has a medium body with sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with cucumber, spice, mild tart6ness and some dirty earth. Very nice.

Bottle from brother who lives in Flo Rida and takes the CCB tour every weekend just to get tanked. Thanks! Poured kind of hazy. Intense aromas of dirt and earthworm excrement. Taste is semi dry with no perceptible bitterness. Flavors of unwashed cucumber straight from the dirt. Dirty. Watery. Not my thing. Thanks, but a better use for a cucumber would be up Nirls anus.

750ml bottle. Appearance: Cloudy light golden with a moderate but quickly dissipating white head. Aroma: Grass and cucumber dominate. Slight spicy yeast phenols. Taste: Light, crackery malt upfront, quickly turning to phenol spices, and countered by fresh grass an cool cucumber to counter. Moderately strong bitterness. Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with a high carbonation. Finish: Dry finish with some lingering bitterness and fresh cucumber. Overall: An interesting beer for sure, but well thought out and executed with the spicy phenols of the farmhouse yeast being countered by the cool cucumber. Well balanced to keep the cucumber from overpowering.
