Bright, cloudy, light yellow pour with snow white head. Nose is very heavily cucumber with some yeasty esters and spice notes. Much nicer than it sounds. A little less impressive on the palate but still good. Very good.

Wow this is one of the strangest and most unique beers I’ve ever had. So much to love, so much to wonder about. First the positive: lightly hazy golden, medium head, persistent lace. Amazing fluffy soft mouthfeel, soft luscious carbonation. But that cucumber, the aroma and flavor was first and foremost a fresh cucumber. Some light phenols, and very much a great saison, but I just don’t know about that cucumber. It was good, because I like cucumber, but then it wasn’t, because it just seemed so out of place. In the end, I guess I just didn’t like it.

At Savor NYC 2013. This was a total misfire for me. The aroma was yeasty, fruity, and this off-putting aroma of uncut cucumber. The flavor followed exactly. Light gold color, white head. The finish had the same raw cucumber flavor that I really didn’t like. Not my thing. But I can’t say that it’s crafted poorly, just that it didn’t work for me.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 BMMillsy (717) - Florida, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Bottle poured to tall tulip. Cloudy light golden pour with a big fluffy head. Aroma of cucumbers, gym shoe, spice, yeast, more funk, light fruit. Most funk I have ever smelled. Very interesting. Flavor is sweet up front with a following wave of cucumber, then a really dirty dusty finish. This thing is nice until that staleness. Light mouthfeel and big carbo. I just cannot deal with this aftertaste. So refreshing to start and them just nasty. Unfortunate as I really enjoyed the cucumber lager. Blah. Can’t finish this and hope it is just a bad bottle.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jkwood04 (2404) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 11, 2013
750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of cucumber, some citrus and light fruits, and some pale and caramel malts plus light spice. Flavor the same with a good amount of cucumber with the rest of the beer. Average texture. A good beer.

Bottle on the balcony. Bottled on 5/23/13. Aroma of yeast, lemon, dill pickle. Spritzy carbonation, active yeast, high fluffy head. Pickle flavors throughout - dill, brine, mustard seeds. Doesn’t really have any fresh cucumber flavors or aromas at all. Just pickle. The 750ml is a bit much for one guy with no food. Try it with a sandwich on rye bread. It really needs something to break it up. Well done, but gimmicky.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 OKplus (560) - Oklahoma, USA - JUN 11, 2013
750ml bottle split with the wife.
Served in a Tripel Karmeliet tulip glass.
A - Pours a hazy golden orange with 3 fingers of moundy head. Average retention and zero lacing.
S - Unmistakable cucumber aroma, raw earthy yeast, some white pepper, old iceberg lettuce.
T - Sweet kissed cucumber wrapped in a peppery bitterness, some tangy yeast and mild lemon notes pop up. Pepper and spice grow as it warms. Pilsener malt provides a nice base but stays in the background. Finishes semi dry with some mild pickle aftertaste.
M - Heavier body for the style, prickly carbonation at first but turns creamy and very smooth after it sits for a bit.
I like seeing low ABV Saisons and it’s nice to see some different experimentation going on. Sometimes it doesn’t always work but this works. Clean flavors with enough peppery spice to keep it interesting. Nothing overpowers and I feel like it stood up to what I was expecting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 UDBeernut (904) - Near Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 9, 2013
2013 bottle from the beech man. Pours golden with a white lacing that last. Nose of cucumber, crackers. Taste is more dill pickle. This has all the best attributes of sushi with out wasabi and fish..... So, in other words.... None of the best attributes. Passable, but just really not my cup O’tea Gouvenour!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 AshtonMcCobb (1490) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 9, 2013
75cl bottle thanks to Lewis. Pours cloudy lemony-orange with a nice thin head which stays. The nose is of fresh cucumber with a bit of the green cucumber skin coming through on the end. The taste has lovely green cucumber then maybe some olives, then more cucumber. The palate is light to medium in body with a light but creamy texture and a long refreshing finish - it’s so refreshing. Overall, really interesting, perhaps a bit one dimensional but what a nice dimension.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 HighWine (858) - Whalezbro, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2013
Tap flight at the brewery. I’ve had this before but never rated it. Light gold color with a light white head that appears to coat the glass. Aroma is fresh cut cucumber but the taste is more like a kosher pickle, which is ok since I like pickles! It’s almost impossible for me to taste anything except for pickles, but I do detect some malt at the end of the taste. I want to brine some pickles with this. Pretty clean finish with some hop bitterness.
