orange color, aroma of spice, wood, yeast, grain, same flavors with some coriander, grain, honey, good but the ceder is a little over kill on the spice

750ml bottle. Bottle is a gusher. Pours a murky orange color with a large white head that has fair retention. The aroma is spicy with cardamon, coriander and some yeast. The flavor is rather weird with what I presume to be cedar taking the forefront, also present are spices, sour fruits (papaya, persimmon) and something medicinal. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes medium in duration, dry and with bitter oranges lingering. Overall: This has a unique sourness, sort of a cross between RR Temptation and Orval, but not as good as either. I’m wondering if this might be infected.

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration Day Two. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Massive spicy cedar nose. Big sweet flavor, lightly boozy with some honey and plenty of cedar wood. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with some alcohol sting, mild pine bitterness, and just loads of cedar wood character. Light dryness, medium sweetness. Lasting woody bitterness. If cedar is your favorite you’ll love this. Otherwise, the cedar may be a bit much. I’m somewhere in between.

Draft to taster at Cigar City. Looks solid; a transparent orange with white lacing. Smells of cedar and spice. Taste is okay, but the cedar is overpowering. Average on the palate. A little too intense for me.

Bottle at ÖÖWF 2012. Aroma heavy with cedar, tangy. A note of white pepper in the taste

750ml bottle at Paradiso Dupont. Pours a hazy burnt orange with some thin, white head. Nose is muted, some wood, some spice, lightly floral. Flavor is malty, sweet, grainy, light wood, a little unappealing dust, some fruit. Medium, dry finish. Not my style.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of light tart fruit with backing notes of Belgian yeast, sweet grains and flora. Flavor has more sourness up front with a bit of acid and finishes with a bit of Belgian yeast and a note of grass/cedar. Odd.

Bottle shared by Cory, thanks! Pour is hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma is initially a bit fruity but then overwhelmed by cedar. It’s hard to notice much else. Flavor also lightly fuity but then the cedar takes over and it’s all i taste. I do not have a great track record with cedar beers. I like them, but they usually hurt me. Also smoke in the finish. Not much that identifies this is as a saison. I was still intrigued by this and happy to try it.

Bottle at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2012. Hazy golden liquid with medium white head. Aroma of white pepper, coriander, wood, cedar, wheat and bubble gum. Taste is dry/light sweet and light bitter with notes of wood, cedar and white pepper. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. My least favourite of the three versions I tried. Still great though.
