Pour at Scott’s saison tasting, pour is hazy orange with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of wood, oak, some lemon and biscuit, slight fruity notes with a hint of grapefruit rind, touch of other sweet citrus as well with caramel peeking through. Taste is a mix of sweet grain with caramel, biscuit, hints of lemon and grapefruit, orange come through, pepper towards the end, slightly sweet but dry finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Palme (2252) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 3, 2012
From 0.75l bottle @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. This is a cloudy orange-honey body with a small bubbly and sidesticking off-white head. Some bitterness on the aroma, it’s grapy with cranberries some yeast and feels a bit tart. It’s average carbonated with a oily texture. Flavors also have cranberries, tart and dry cowberries, bitter grapefruit, and it feels all the way bitter. Light fruity finish. Ends really mouthdrying. Definitely tasty! 11.05.2012
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 matt7215 (1934) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 24, 2012
750ml bottle shared by jsprime. gusher, hazed golden, huge white head. muted nose, some citrus fruit, some bret influence. the flavour is equally muddled. the beer really came off as unfinished. not nearly as clean or expressive as the cedar version. it seemed like this bottle might have had a bret infection that hadnt finished fermenting in the bottle. possible bottle bomb alert.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cbfobes (1675) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 22, 2012
Bottle shared by drowland, thanks Danny! Pours an unclear orange with a thick white head, the aroma has a funky woody touch to it and some citrus as well, the flavor has a citrus and grapefruit front end with a funky amount of spices in the finish, some yeast notes come through as well, pretty interesting stuff.

very foamy pour. Tons of fizzy white head. Lots of fruity spicy aroma. Definite hints of grapefruit. Hazy orange color. Probably my favorite of this series.

750 ml bottle shared by rebelmusic- thanks, Chris! He said he’d opened the Cedar one recently and didn’t like it as much. This one pours a cloudy gold with a big off-white head. Aroma of wheat, coriander, grapefruit, soap, herbs, straw, and bready funk. Flavor of fruity nectar, straw, caramel malts, coriander, apricot, wood, and very mild grapefruit. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, fruity mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Unusual saison. I liked it.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stobbe74 (3788) - DENMARK - JUN 18, 2012
Sampled at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours an unclear and golden beer with a white head. The aroma is malt, caramel and hops with tropical fruit and citrus. The flavor follows the nose with additional notes of grapefruit. The palate is sweetness and bitterness. Overall a good beer.

(750ml bottle thanks to Dixonian) clear medium gold, ring of fine tan bubbles, nose is sweet, peppery, saison yeast, graham cracker, rich. Taste of orange, sweet, light wood, spicy yeast well carbonated.

750ml from Leuken’s Liquors online. Once more unto the breach. Again, a pretty decent strong brew that doesn’t quite have the saison characteristics I crave. Darkish body, fluffy head, and prickly carbonation. Lots of semi-sharp wood, with a less pronounced citric quality than expected, though that may be because it’s a comparably bigger beer. Decent.
