Sample from Vinnie. I don’t really even want to rate this. It is boring, plain and tastes like a spicy, weird witbier with some orange and some weird lemon hints. So disappointingly average, especially for what used to be one of my favorite brewers. Huge letdown.

PhillyCraft (2850) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2012
Bottle with keith. Poured an ultra carbed glowing bright orange, small head and barely any lacing to note. Aromas of orange juice, wood, spicy coriander, dry character. Taste is dry as hell, woody, ginger, lemons, honey. Beer was very sweet, saison notes, ultra bubbly.

(750ml bottle) Pours a hazy golden orange body with a medium white head. Aroma of lemon, nila wafers, florals, wood, and caramel. Flavor of herbs, lemon, caramel, and wood with a dry finish.

Orange pour with a white head. Citrus nose with oak and light caramel malts. Med body with big citrus notes and pale malts. Sweet lemon finish with some spices and banana.

Aroma is orange peel and coriander, biscuit malt, intermingled into a citrus, sour, spiciness. Barrel and a but of alcohol heat are also present. Taste is sourness, citrus, lemon, alcohol heat, and vanilla. Finish its slightly hot, sweet, and citrus. Ok.

Bottle shared at a recent BA/RB tasting... Poured golden/amber-orange with a smallish head. Not much retention. Estery, spicy, some tropical fruits and citrus. Couldn’t total detect the wood flavor but noticeable lemon characters for sure. Crisp, refreshing. Some malt sweetness, very botanical-like for balance. Citrus, pine-like, extremely earthy.

Bottle poured into glass. Has a terrific aroma of lemon mixed with a Christmas tree woody feel. It’s a tie between the lemon and wood, both are equally prevalent in this beer and it just works out great.

Poured orangeish with no real head. Smelled weakly of citrus zest andhops. about the same with clean aftertaste.

BOLTZ7555 (2710) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Least pungent and assertive...the lemon wood must compliment the other aggressive flavors of pepper, alcohol, citrus pith, and orange peel. Lemon zest and wood seem to sooth and moderate. This is the most drinkable, without doubt. Medium mouthfeel...somewhat enjoyable.

Beershine (5196) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - MAR 26, 2012
Bottle. Lovely hazy orange. Fizzy short-lived head doesn’t detract from the attractive hue. Spritzy aroma, hot, but a little shy, with ginger, Ting, lemon verbena, basil. Soft palate with gentle, lively carbonation. Feels meaty yet refreshing. Delightful flavors, the wood chips really come out and add a nice toasty, dry, manly element that takes the beer to the next level. The underlying brew is a fun, spritzy, herbal, strong American-style saison. The wood adds a wonderful flavor dimension.
