2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Glouglouburp (5613) - Montreal, Quebec, - SEP 13, 2012In short: A sweet fruity orange beer with plenty of wood and a strong vegetal character. Strange unpleasant beer
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed relatively fresh, 3 months after first bottle rating. Bottle from GodOfThunder, go f... I mean.. thanks Jay
The look: Glowing orange body topped by a large white head with low retention that leaves almost no lacings on the glass
In long: The intense nose is one of a kind with lots of freshly cut wood, rustic yeast and that strong organic presence that was like stuffing your nostrils with fruits and vegetables. Really strange and intriguing aroma. Taste has a lot of sweetness, candied fruits, dried fruits, spicy oak, canned fruits juice, more… Overall I had a sensation of sweetened vegetables, or maybe sweetened plants of some kind, really strange, and not entirely pleasant. 9% very well hidden. I really liked the cedar version of this beer, I don’t how this Lemon Wood treatment infused such a vegetal flavor in the beer, but it did, and it wasn’t good. Very hard to drink, I needed help to finish my bottle. What a mess, whenever I open one of those weird CCBs experiments I feel almost as scared for my well being as a Chinese athlete coming back from the Olympics with a silver medal.

Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured a hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate herbs, wood and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet & sour flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate to long duration. I would recommend this to a friend.

750 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was lemon citrus with almost a Pledge type note, caramel, grass, hints of dough and wood. The flavor has a sticky sweetness that reminded me of a couple of the 110K+OT beers (Imperial IPA), caramel, honey, lemon, grass, herbal and wood. Some mild bitterness and starts to dry at the finish.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by me with the group; thanks burg326). Looks good; a cloudy orange with off-white lacing. Smells solid; citrus and lemon wood. Tastes like it smells, but less robust, with an average mouthfeel. Not bad.

Bottle @ CBC. Pours hazy dark yellow with a small white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, grass, light spice, wood, lemon. Flavor of malt, yeast, spice, pepper, grass, light sweetness, wood, lemon. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry finish. The best of the 3 for me. 040513

Gusher. Nice orange color. A little dry but well carbonated. Some nice citrus/lemon flavors. Something slightly off though...could be better. Bottled in December 2011.
