Well they took my favorite dry stout and ramped it up! Love the cinnamon, clove, indian spices that they added. Makes this beer amazing. Bravo!

On tap at CC. Dark brown pour. I’m sure you can figure out the nose. Cocoa, roasted malt, and spices dominated the taste..

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at Hunahpu Day 2011. Pours a dark Patio Tools brown with an off-white head. Nose is a bit of dry roast, earth, a hint of unsweet cocoa, and chai spices- vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a light hint of sugar. Flavor is similar with the spices taking a back seat to some of the dry stout qualities. A bit of cocoa, roast, and earth dominate the vanilla, cinnamon, and spices of the East India part. Very enjoyable, but not as thick as a regular Patio Tools.

On tap at CCB on 4/28/11. Pitch black pour with a thick tan/almost brown head. Strong spicy nose of ginger, nutmeg, allspice and slight roast. Flavor is cinnamon, roast, coffee and ginger before a bitter chocolate finish. Very solid. Could use just a little less spice to let the other flavors shine through though.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap Cigar City pouring mahogany with mocha head. The aroma is rich and spicy and has black licorice, graham cracker, molasses, dark roasted malts and rounded out on the earthy side. The taste is smooth and a bit thin with spicy hops, spicy black licorice, earthiness, a mild amount of various spices, dark roasted malts and then bleeding into near burnt or charred malts. Easy drinkin’ yum.

Growler. Pours dark brown. Nose is full of spices including, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, almost like chai. Flavor is roasty with all the spices flavors coming out as well. Nice balance between the roast and the spice. Dry finish. Good beer.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Hunahpu 2011. The pour is not looking so hot either because the bar tender was mad at me for ordering three different beers listed on the tap list and each had respectively "just run out" and not removed from a chalk board that was at arm’s reach, or maybe because it was served in a plastic cup. Much weaker looking than the normal Patio Tools, which I’m assuming is the base beer. A clear cola brown beer sits with little wimpy bubbles. Aroma is quite nice- I’m a big sucker for the East India treatment. Loads of Chai spices, milky Chai tea, cinnamon, nutmeg, mace. Taste is lemon tea, tea leave tannic, the milky chai tea explodes at the beginning but really has no body to carry it along. A watery and lemon body is forefront reminding you this is session Irish stout and not a full stout. Easy to chug and enjoyed by everyone. Still missing the richness of the normal Patio Tools.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Cigar City. Dark brownish red pour with a thin off white head. Huge aroma of cinnamon, clove, ginger and roasted grain. Smooth roasted grain taste with many of the mentioned flavors peaking though. Well balanced roasted grain and spice with a nice complexity.
