COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Cracker Cowboys of Florida were colonial-era settlers, often of Scots-Irish descent, who arrived in Florida when Spain traded their territory of La Florida to the English. The term Cracker in Florida usage relates to the whip these "cow hunters" used to herd cattle in Florida’s Palmetto Prairies. Called Quáqueros by the Spanish, these hardy and hard working Cracker Cowboys helped to shape the history of Florida, the nation’s oldest cattle raising state. We brew Florida Cracker White ale with unmalted wheat, orange peel and coriander and then ferment it with a French Saison yeast strain to give it a spicy and dry finish. Perfect for a warm day on the Palmetto Prairie.

Hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is banana, juicy orange, coriander, grain, hay, and a touch of bubblegum. Taste is light sweet, citrusy, light bitter. Finish is light sweet, some juicy and slightly tart orange notes, grain and spices. Light bodied, average carbonation.
Good citrusy witbier.

Poured from a can into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a hazy-cloudy lemon-gold color with a good-sized foamy white head with solid retention, and light cling and lacing. The aroma featured wheat tones, along with yeast and barley, and bits of orange and coriander. Its taste had a mildly sweet and wheat, with notes of orange and a touch of banana, along with a blend of sour yeast. The beer was fairly water and thicker in the mouth, with good bubbly carbonation and a dry finish. Thanks for the great beers Florida, it’s been real!

Witbier is definitely one of the most underappreciated styles in the beer world. There’s a lot to like about them: fruity smell and taste, thirst-quenching and easy-drinking. That describes Cigar City Florida Cracker to a tee. In fact, this beer is so good I’d say it’s one of the best examples of the style I’ve ever had. That it’s available in six-packs of cans and is a year-round offering is pretty amazing.

I poured a 12oz can into a tulip glass. It was canned on 10/15/15 and a six-pack cost $8.99 ($1.50 per can or $0.13 per ounce).

Appearance: Looks like a glass of tepid orange juice. Pale orange body that’s extremely cloudy; some sediment visible some of the time. Pours to a small, white, soapy head which evaporates quickly and completely.

Smell: Strong orange and coriander aroma. Slightly floral. Overall very clean and extremely inviting.

Taste: Orange is probably the predominant flavor, though there’s a nice coriander spice that really comes through on the second half. Body has a light wheat character, though it probably could be dialed up a little. The back end has a slightly dry bitterness that complements the orangepeel and coriander perfectly. Though the palette here is admittedly simple and repetitive, it’s as equally tasty on the last sip as the first.

Drinkability: Now that I live in Florida, this is exactly the kind of beer I want to have on hand at all times. The mouthfeel is – not surprisingly – light and crisp, to match the drinker-friendly taste. It’s refreshing every time it crosses the tongue; which is preferable for a warm climate brew. I am a bit surprised that Cigar City Florida Cracker is 5.5% ABV, since it feels like something lighter. This could be sessioned quite easily, I just wish the same flavor was present in an even lighter brew.

I love this beer! Great flavor, very smooth and refreshing. Exactly what I expect from a wheat beer and Cigar City does it best.
