COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Forgotten Island is aged in Appleton rum barrels, originating from Jamaica. This distillery makes the oldest barrel-aged rum in the world. The barrel lends notes of vanilla, molasses, orange peel, cocoa, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnut, apricot and peach. This plethora of flavors and aromas from the rum barrels intermingles with banana, clove, cinnamon, fig, plum and brown sugar aromatics and flavors from the quadrupel, creating a crescendo of elegance in a long flavorful finale.

Really sweet and rummy, kinda like drinking a rum, you can tell its a quad from some of the estery flavors but it’s not really my thing.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong coconut, molasses, brown sugar. Syrup mouth feel, strong rum, dark fruit, plum skin, molasses, sugary malt, unique, good.

Bottle at RBWG ’15 Grand Tasting @ Coppertail, thanks to whomever shared this one, 21/02/15. Mahgogany brown with moderate beige edgework. Nose is musty wood, toffee, rum strains, spice, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises toffee, spice, fruit cake, dates, light chocolate, earthy. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent quad, good bitter sweet balance.

Bottle. Deep, muddy purple-brown. Very little head, just some large tan water-bubbles. Sweet aroma. Red grape, apricot, vanilla, funky rum, maple syrup, old oranges, strawberry, alcohol. The flavor’s maltier than expected. Milk chocolate meets all the other stuff: vanilla, toffee, caramel, red grape, maple, a touch of toast, a hint of banana. Alcohol flavor is big. Sweet vanilla-and-oak finish. Medium-full, syrupy body. A little Sweet overall, but I like what the rum adds here.

Nice malty smell. Taste is way too sweet and boozy. Not a fan of this at all. Medium body with low carbonation.

Bottle shared during the RBWG 2015 Grand Tasting. Pours deep brown with a frothy mocha topping. Lots of bready malts in this one, meaty caramel, toffee, rich fruits. Full bodied, a little syrupy, with fine carbonation. Sugary and bready on the finish with some liquefied fruits. Somewhat tasty but just way too sweet.

Dark red-brown with minimal head and no lacing. Feel: Full, slick, sticky and syrupy. Too much like a medicinal syrup. Disappointing.

Pours a deep brown from the bottle with little to no head or lace. Aroma of big sweetness and spice, hint of apple, light dark fruit notes. Taste is big on the sweetness, rum is light, except for the phenol alcohol, big fruitiness, sweet, big boozy burn. Wow, definitely a plethora as the bottle implies.

750mL bottle pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up brown sugar coated prunes and dates and figs and then it gets into boozy and rum like notes. The taste is similar with a rich mix of prunes, raisins, dates and figs swimming in a brown sugar and molasses sea of sweetness. This then slides into smooth boozy rum sweetness that blends well with the fruity esters that are going on. Overall this is a great tasty sipper but it seems to be something you need to be in the mood for to really enjoy its silky smooth rich sweetness.

Bottle poured a dark rich brown in color with a small bit of head that fell right off. Aroma has dark fruit, sweet boozy rum, dark sugars, vanilla, and dried pit fruit. Mouth feel coats with sugars and the carbonation is on the lower side. Flavor is quite the bruiser, heavy dark sugars, molasses, raisins, rum barrels, and plenty of heat.
