COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Guava Grove is a farmhouse ale that sees a secondary fermentation on one of Tampaís favored fruits, guava. Pairs well with fresh fish, mussels, fresh tropical fruits, and earthy cheeses.

The aroma is yeasty, malty, and fruity (guava). The appearance is Hazy gold-copper with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma with an odd but interesting finish that reminds me of wood. The palate is average for the style. Overall itís interesting and I would drink again.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2010 750 mL into tulips (shared). Found this at Dornís Wine and Liqour in Gainesville. Pours a hazy gold with a two-finger white head that settles down and leaves little to no lacing. Aroma is sour apples, Brett, apple cider vinegar, sour peaches, white wine. Overall smells like a Flemish red. Taste is similar but sourness overwhelms the guava puree, Brett, spices, and other complexities. Watery to acidic on the palate. Very chardonnay like. 7/26/2009 8/3/7/4/14=3.6

750mL courtesy of Dstructo. Poured a hazy deep gold with a decent white head. Excellent spicy Brett, drying grapefruit rind, farmhouse notes. Wow this St. Somewhere yeast is insane. The body is dry, fully attenuated, spicy oak, grapefruit rind, orange peel, perfume oils abound. Excellent all around. Really this beer is developing quite nicely. 8/29/2010 8/3/8/5/15=3.9

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2009 Cloudy orange, vigorus carbonation, thick white head. Very fruity -banana, mango and tangerine - I assume thatís the guava - plus some winey notes. First sip is a nice mix of fruity and traditional saison flavors, very citrusy. As it warms. the citrusy fruity flavors become more dominate - more tangerine and mango, with whte mine and some dusty, flinty, funky notes in the background. Very nice stuff.

Draft at International Beer Garten (Lutz, FL) tasting event. Pours a cloudy orange color with a small head. The guava is immediately noticeable in the aroma and flavor on top of the yeast notes. Very interesting and unique combination. There is a neat transition from sweet into a sour/tart finish.

Growler thanks to JohnC. Pours a hazy golden body with a small white fizz. Aroma of guava, wheat, slight sourness, belgian yeast and soda water. Taste is wheat, grass, guava, a bit sour, funky and astringent. Light bubbles. As much as I like Guava, this beer didnít work for me.

(Growler, courtesy of JohnC) Pours a murky orange body with a small white bubble head. Aroma of guava, wheat, Belgian yeast, citrus, and herbs. Flavor of apple, guava, grapefruit, grass, some funkiness, yeast, and spices with a dry finish.

growler from the brewery dry and slightly fruit, this dark gold pour is pretty tasty.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2010 Draft at Redlight. Pours a cloudy orange and yellow color. Very nice looking. Aroma is fruity with a little spice from the Saint Somewhere yeast. Flavors are packed with Guava and spice with a good amount of tartness and a little earthy funk. This has great balance now, but is still a little sweet and wet. It is very good now, but with a year in the bottle, this will be amazing. Batch 2: Vinegar, rubbing alcohol and acetone in flavor and aroma. I honestly canít drink a lot of this. The freshness and light beauty of the original version is gone. It is harsh and overpowering without that light, sweet, fruity, summer feel to it. Terribly disappointed with this batch. So bad that I had to change my rate.

Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a very cloudy, but bright orange color topped by a small, foamy off white head. Rings of lacing are left behind on the glass. The guave really comes through in the aroma adding a sweet-tart character, some cinnamon spices, and the funky St Somewhere yeast. The flavor is very similar with the guava citrus up front with the funky yeast adding some tartness in there. Grapefruit citrus and spices add to the flavor profile as well. Medium bodied with good carbonation and a tart, dry finish that adds to itís easy drinking nature. This is a nice summertime beer and one I look forward to having more of. This certainly has capability of becoming a great sour ale as well.

DraftÖ Murky golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Tangy, tropical-fruit, lightly funky aroma Ė rumors of aged cheese and barnyard. Medium-bodied. The flavor provides modest tropical fruit sweetness and mild bitterness with a fairly acidic backdrop. Controlled tartness with very little brett-like dryness. Crisp, tangy, refreshing finish. Subtle guava flavor lingers.
