COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This 60 IBU Caribbean-style IPA was brewed at the Cervezas del Sur Brewery in Ponce, Puerto Rico by Cigar City Brewmaster Wayne Wambles. The mango tree-lined streets of Ponce put us in a tropical mood and Hopped on the High Seas is the result of that Caribbean feeling. High Seas is a 7% ABV IPA dry-hopped exclusively with one variety of hop; 165 lbs of them in fact! And since we wanted to put this beer in our favorite container, the 12 oz can, a sea journey was required to get the beer back to Tampa for canning. We took the opportunity to add the dry-hops to the refrigerated shipping container prior to racking. Which means this beer truly was Hopped on the High Seas. As the beer made its way home, the gentle motion of the ocean worked to infuse the luscious aromatics of the hops. The result is big tropical aromas and flavors, light balancing malt backbone and a clean bitter finish.

Can from CCB. Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a white head. Nose is tropical fruit, citrus, herbs, slightly dank, and some nice sweet and candied citrus note (Wayne says Orange Creamsicle, and I can definitely see it). Flavor is similar with sweet citrus, some light caramel malt, and some herbs, tropical fruit and lingering sweet citrus. Light to medium in body and a very nice beer overall.

Can, much thanks to Jason. Pours the same light golden color with a small off white head as the rest of the HOTHS series. Aroma is interesting, melon, citrus, grass, light fruit hop notes and some mild grainy malts. Taste is very interesting, bitter pine, sharp citrus, light melon, earth hop notes with the crackery.grainy malt notes and the punch of bitterness in the finish. Definitely an interesting profile.

Can from Five Points Bottle Shop (Lumpkin St.). Floral, citrusy nose, with a little bit of metal. Hazy medium straw, decent head. Light but full caramel / tropical fruit and citrus / little depth charges of hops in finish. Medium body with some hop texture. Good stuff. Very mild but flavorful.

Can. Pours a clear light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of light fruits, floral hops, pale malts. Flavor of citrus, orange pulp, lemon rind, mango, light fruits, with bitter fruity hops in the finish. Tasty, fruity IPA with tons of citrusy and tropical notes. 7/4/8/4/16 (3.9/5)

Can from kwik-e mart. Hazy tan, not much head. Aroma of pineapple and peach. Understated malts. Moderate bitterness and the balanced malts are a touch sticky and a touch biscuity. The bitterness does linger. The hops are still mostly peachy and lightly tropical. Good little IPA.

Can, thanks Eric. Pours gold, with a white head. Aroma is hops, citrus and pine. Not overpowering, though. Flavor is citrus, resin, and some sugar. Refreshing.

12 oz can purchased at 67 Wine in Pompano Beach, Florida. 1/30/14 on the bottom of the can. The pour is lightly hazed golden orange with a frothy one inch white head. The aroma is tropical fruit, sweet, citrus, bit of pine resin and a nice base of toasted malt. The taste is a pleasant blend of the slightly sweet tropical fruit (pineapple papaya), resin and the cereal malt. Aftertaste shows pineapple bitterness. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft carbonation and the bitter resin pine finish. Unique hop character, solid.

Can. Golden with a nice khaki foam on top. Great lacing. The aroma has a tropical fruity scent with notes of pine, soap, and grainy malt. Initially the flavor seems light. This has a gradual passion fruit character that slowly opens up, with coconut and plenty of crackery malt. Herbal and lemon undertones, perhaps some soft pine too. Definitely a tropical theme but in a gentle way. Dry and bitter in the finish with some lingering dough. This goes down very easily and at first I thought the alcohol content was probably less than the usual 7% Cigar City IPA. Obviously not the case. A nicely done, refreshing IPA.

Can. Nose of peaches, orange, lightly tropical, with pepper. Deep cloudy orange color. Dry and bready flavor, malty, light body, minerals, dry finish. Nice dry fruit, rather light but smooth. Nice.
