12/30/2009: Cigar City Hopped-Up Johnnie... Aroma: Mouth-watering chocolate with an ample tinge of citrus. Appearance: Reddish-black color; opaque; looks thick; frothy, churning, rich brown head. Flavor: Loads of dark and semi-sweet chocolate; forward suggestions of coffee and vanilla; bitter dark chocolate, cocoa; citrusy orange thread of hops throughout; alcohol definitely makes itself known but is not overtly agressive. Palate: Full-bodied; thick, yet smooth; moderately creamy, even chewy. Overall: Damn good and fairly impressive.
Hand-bottled (draught) from daknole shared by alexsdad06. Thanks Brad! Rating #46 for this beer.

Handbottled. Pitch black coloured. Dark brown head. Aroma of roast, herbs, cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, oak and molasses. Flavour of vanilla, light roast, chocolate, oak, herbs, cocoa and light coffee. Quite dense in the flavour. full bodied. Totally takes possesion of the palate. Chocolaty and roasty bitterness in the end with a quite dense alcoholbite on palate and lips. Yummy.

Handbottle 50 cl. Courtesy of daknole. Pours an opaque pitch black with a brown head. Aroma is dark burned malts and vanilla with a whiff of whisky. Solid body, hard roasted malt and vanilla while the oak doesn’t really come through that much. Malt bitter finish. Thanks for the treat Dak! 230410

grenade bottle from daknole shared on 1/17/2010... sick!
a really thick pour produces a brick red shade of black with a small tan head which takes a bit to rise.
smells like a very hoppy version of marshal zhukov... licorice, molasses, chocolate, roasty ash and citrus hops with a touch of whisky, barrel, spice and vanilla.
the flavor shares the same characteristics but adds in coffee and surprising intense dry hoppiness. ashy roast and mellow whisky linger in the aftertaste.
the body is on the heavily rich side yet the overload of hops keeps easy to drink the only bottle in arizona! thanks, dak! 9/5/8/4/17/4.3
