COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Why so punny? “Helles” is German for “light colored.” Hotter Than Helles is more than just a (very) silly pun; it perfectly reflects the nature of this beer. A lager meant to be consumed when it’s truly hotter than helles outside. So there are no peppers or spices in this beer!

Can from trade with Tricyclist. Pours about as light a golden color as any beer I’ve seen, with low head, and light, lager aroma. Taste is very traditional German lager with crisp, clean, sightly grainy malt being the main feature with this. There are minor flavor notes of lemon, and just the right amount of hop bitterness to balance this out. This is a pretty decent lager; easy to drink, and a great summer brew. Glad I have two. Thanks, Matthew.

Can from trade with OmegaX. Pours a slightly cloudy pale yellow color with a small head. Aroma is very grainy but there are nice lemon and grassy scents too. Taste is very grainy and bready too. There’s a slightly sweet fruitiness and a touch of bitterness too that helps to bring everything together. Highly drinkable lager. Crisp finish with a little spiciness. Great helles lager.

Pours yellow with a creamy white head. Grainy aroma with a little hoppiness. The flavor is crisp and clean with a pils malt profile and a subltle hop spiciness. Smooth mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Nice refreshing lager.

Chilled 12 oz. aluminum can brought to the tasting by Josh, poured into a weizen glass. Pours slightly hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is nice grain, but the taste is really grainy. This was the kick off for the tasting and probably should have rated lower because the taste is bland, but the aroma I thought was good.

12 ounce can. Pours a pale gold with no head. Smells grainy and soapy. The taste is a continuation of the soap, but moves on to a bready finish. Very light.

On tap at the CCB brewpub at Tampa airport. Pours straw coloured, slightly hazy, small white head. Pretty hoppy for a Helles, very drinkable.

Can from Funky Buddha in Boca Raton, FL. Poured into a snifter. A beautiful yellow, light gold color with a thick white head. Good lace. The nose is a somewhat floral, citrus, maltiness with a slight bread feature. The taste was surprisingly heavier than expected. The full body (for the style) was malty, floral, citrus and bread. It finished slightly bitter. Certainly a good beer for hot, sunny South Florida Summers.
