3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Entering old rates. Draft @ CCB.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Labeled as "American Barleywine," but one of the reps from CC said it was just an aged version of this beer. If I’ve got this in the wrong spot please let me know. Pours orange amber with a thin white head. Hoppy aroma with some light sweetish malts and light woody hints. The flavor is well balanced, with sweet caramel malt, floral/citric hops, and a hint of wood. Not bad, but I bet this was way better fresh.

Tap @ CCB. Poured a deep copper color with a thin egg shell head. Lots of cedar in the nose but I still get the orange and honey of the base beer. Full body with an oily mouth feel with moderate carbonation. Flavor is still pretty sweet however, the spiciness of the cedar does play a part in mitigating it. Still big notes of orange and honey are present. Finish is dominated by the cedar.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at CCB. Pours a dark amber copper color with bright white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of spice, cedar, light floral hoppiness. Flavor is about the same with stronger notes of cedar and piny hoppiness. Medium body with a peppery and spicy finish. Really liked the regular 110K Batch 3 and this treatment is just outstanding.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sweet malts and citrus notes are on the aroma. The color is ruby amber with a decent white head on top. The smooth flavor of sweet citrus hops with subtle notes of the cedar overall on the palate. The body is medium to thick with the sweetness on the palate, you definitely know it’s there.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
OK, I had this before I had the "regular" 110K+OT Batch 3, so at the time I couldn’t really compare, but I know now that this is my favorite of the 2. The ceder plays off the sweetness of the beer (an there is a lot of it) and really highlights the grapefruit and other hop flavors. Very tasty brew and possibly my favorite of the Cigar City Brews I tried.

Growler pours deep clear copper with full tan head. The aroma begins with a hit of spicy cedar planks followed quickly by sweetened grapefruit and pineapple. The taste begins in a similar fashion with spicy cedar wood notes quickly followed by bitter grapefruit like hoppiness and then increasing malty sweetness. The bitter hops and spicy wood notes come to the fore every now and then and pretty much take over into the finish. The cedar has created improved balance to the sweet (yummy) barleywine onslaught.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Stumbled upon this while at the brewery. Hazy light brown pour with a thick off white head. Pungent cedar aroma with touches of hops and honey sweetness. Taste is mostly dominated by the sweetness of the malt, honey and some hop bitterness, but also a touch of the cedar comes through. Not bad, as the cedar balances the sweetness a bit.
