I dug out my Cigar City Humidor Imperial Stout, which I believe was the 2009 bottling. Iíve been looking forward to drinking this beer as a bottle of 2009 Marshall Zhukov was the best Imperial Stouts Iíve ever had and I was not disappointed. Outstanding port/sherry aged character, hefty malt sweetness, dark chocolate truffles, fig and date and a big rich mouthfeel are very uniquely complimented by the cedar aging time. The cedar is at once both sharp and slightly savory, keeping the sweetness in check and spinning a fantastic beer in a really unique direction. Just really blown away by how awesome this beer is, and I have to say it ties with my previous 2009 Marshall Zhukov experience as Best Imperial Stout.

Bottle shared at Proof. Black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, dark fruit, cedar. Tastes are burnt, roasted, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, wood. Little tangy. Oily palate. Prefer the base stout.

bottle. Very nice imperial stout. Hit all the right cords in what I like in an imperial stout - Not incredibely distinct but sits well on the palate.

750 ml bottle from a trade. I donít remember who since this bottle is nearly 2 years old. Great looking stout, thick tan head that laced the entire snifter. Nose is freshly cut mulch. Seriously, nothing but earthy wood. Dear god, is there any stout underneath all this wood? Oh wait also get tar, black pepper and tobacco. Sorry this is overwhelming. Wood and black pepper finish. Love Imperial stouts but this just really isnít my thing. I hope the aging of this bottle did something to the wood and it took over because I just donít see this fine brewery putting out a one dimensional brew like this.

On tap at brewery. Pitch black. Aroma is smoke, cedar, chocolate, coffee. Taste is chocolate, then cedar, then smoke. Really yummy. Smoke is there, but I donít think too strong. Yummy.

This was hard to rate. Pours black with a tan head, Smells like a cigar. Had on tap. Great stout, Zhukov like. Very Smokey. One of the Smokiest beers I have had. Almost overwhelming. I couldnít see myself drinking a full pint of this. Not because it is a bad beer but because it is so smokey.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle thanks to TheAlum. Thanks, bro! Pours an inky, thick as oil black with almost no head. Aromas of unimaginable amounts of roast, some spice and a hint of wood. I guess 2 years in the old rot box kind of dumbed down the cedar aging. Taste is an enormous amount of bitter chocolate, roasted malts and burnt down houses. So thick. The finish is longer and blacker than the black seducer. So. Much. Thickness.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle with thanks to juiceisloose! Pours deep opaque black with a small deep brown head and some lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee, cocoa, and, what is that? Oh yeah cedar and woody notes. Interesting. Flavor is the same, little sweetness here, more roasty and woody with medium bitterness. Full body with a soft, silky mouthfeel. CCB really knows how to work the palate with their impys. Nice beer, but not earth shattering.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
HOly Cedar, Batman! poured like zhukov, pitch black and oily. nose was like smoking some salmon on cedar planks just a big chewy wood presence. taste was even bigger. I certainly would have to split t his one a few ways. So much cedar that itís almost overwhelming but really refreshing overall. would love to get more of this.

750ml bottle. Rating #266. Dark inky black color with the darkest brown head that Iíve ever seen. Big aromas, light anise, raisins and molasses and roasted malts. Dark chocolate bitterness, not much hop presence with a lot of coffee in the finish with a bit of ash in the exhale. (2856)

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thick black pour, same dark tan head with red hues as other Zhukov variants. Nose is big cedar, roasted malts, sweet chocolate. Taste is the same, huge cedar. The cedar is much more prominent than in the other Humidor beers Iíve had. Smooth and sticky, medium-full bodied.
