The cedar aroma jumps out of the glass like chupacabra grabbing for your throat. This chicita bonita iis spicy - grab the cigar out of the humidor and inhale. Good stuff indeed.

Hazy orange pour. Smells like a tropical fruit salad on a cedar plate. The cedar smell is bit strong. Taste is the same with a creamy palate, much like the white oak treatment. Taste is much better balanced than the nose. Another great one from CC.

Got in a trade from Markwise. I get what some say about ammonia. But that’s a harsh word to say seeing how ammonia is horrible to smell. But I do get this fruity (ripe fruit) smell with something that has to be the cedar. I’d say it smells like nuts...raw nuts. I get the ammonia thing. The only reason why I agree slightly with that is because I’ve made lobster stock plenty of times in my day and when you do, you get this strange ammonia aroma when straining...but not a horrible thing just natural. The appearance is wonderful. Hazy gold with a head that stays around. It tastes really balanced. It has so many qualities and not a one that dominates. This is the first brew where I get a slight soapiness yet it’s perfect. It ends with a lingering bitterness and after you sit for a few minutes it the remainder of sweetness. I can’t say it’s my favorite but it is delicious.

750ml bottle from Knightly Spirits...Pours an awesome red/tan with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is great, hops and caramel malts. Flavor is grapefruit, pinenuts, definately taste the cedar...nice bitter hop bite. Medium, sticky mouthfeel. This is a great beer...love it...

Pours a nice cloudy copper color with a nice froathy head. Has a strong cedar taste with floral hop overtures. Finishes with a slight smokey after taste.

Definitely get the fresh hop aroma even though this beer has been aged. Aroma is fresh hop and cedar, strong cedar, but not overpowering. Peppery. It seems cedar would be a great accompaniment to any summer ale. Pours cloudy, golden orange and takes a second or two to settle. This got me excited. I hate IPA’s that are clear. White head. Lots of spicy and cedar notes. Some sweetness but not a whole lot. You can tell this one has the soul of an IPA but the cedar expands the palate and weaves in beautifully. Although, almost technically perfect it lacks special something to make me want to drink it daily.

On tap @ Mr. Beery’s in Sarasota: Pours a deep copper orange with a medium frothy off-white head that has excellent lacing throughout. Hoppy aroma is citrusy with hints of cedar. Smooth creamy texture sets up an excellent flavor of mild bitterness of citrus with the highlight being the cedar notes that linger from start to finish. An excellent twist on barrel aging!

Incredible IPA. Great nose with a little cedar funk on the nose and back to the aftertaste. Very silky mouth feel. Interesting taste that is not over hopped but has a great presence. Very nice

Appearance: Fairly clear orange sunburst with honey folds and a 3 finger off white crown that shows lots of lace and retention. Smell: Loads of character here. Good floral and herbal hop notes crash into a sophisticated and sexy cedar chip humidor like quality. Tobacco comes to mind but only associatively, it is the cedar chips triggering that more than anything. Taste: Not as pungent as the nose, but again a seemless blend of hops and cedar. I’m really impressed by the combination. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and well carbonated. A touch too crisp for my liking. Drinkability: Nice flavor profile, crisp mouthfeel, and an abv below 8% makes this brew score well in the drinkability department. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-21-2009
