12 oz can. Tasted on 6/2/14. Can from Chae. The aroma did have some hints of cedar, pine, & maybe grapefruit. Taste was great with a bitter bite from the hops at the end. Nice IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2011 Dark honey color. Smells of what I assume to be cedar. Pretty good beer this one.

Poured a very cloudy dark orange with a half finger’s worth of head. The aroma is high on cedar and some sweet bread dough. The taste is high on the floral hops up front, with the lighter sweeter cedar coming in on the aftertaste. The carbonation is quite soft as well. I’ve had oak aged ipa’s that did not work at all because the tastes contrasted so much. Not so with this one. Excellent combination.

This is by far my favorite IPA, pours a copper color with a one finger white head. Smells of hops, pine and grassy there is some caramel undertones. Taste is glorious there is the hop character a load of grassy and fruity (grapefruit maybe) followed by a bit of the spanish cedar, smoaky, spicy, caramel hard to describe. Finish is not bitter at all which I found as a pleasant surprise.

I think I have to give this one a high rating mostly because of the uniqueness. I can smell cedar, and slight hops. Very cloudy darker golden color. Nice amount of head with little lacing on the glass. I can taste slight hops first and stronger cedar after the fact. Wood is not over done here though. Slight carbonation and great finish on the palate. Great beer here. Highly recommended.

Poured a bomber into a tulip, yielding a russet liquid with an ample, creamy head that laced the glass nicely. This will sound bizarre, but the aroma is hot unglazed donuts: yeast, sweet sticky starch, and just enough wood smell to simulate burnt flour. The flavor combines juicy hops with the complex flavor of cedar to yield something altogether more subtle that what you get from oak. If oaked beers give you smoky old wood, this is more like a fresh green twig (thanks in large part to the fresh taste of the hops). A really fine ipa.

Hazy orange pour. Smells like a tropical fruit salad on a cedar plate. The cedar smell is bit strong. Taste is the same with a creamy palate, much like the white oak treatment. Taste is much better balanced than the nose. Another great one from CC.

On tap at Cigar City tasting room in Tampa, FL. Of the ~15 Cigar City beers I had this week, this took the cake. The Spanish cedar aging is a first for me, but I will be doing trades for every single humidor series beer they make in the future. Definitely an all time favorite.

This beer is one of the best. Super strong. Goregous three finger head. Lacing. Not much aroma. The flavor is thick. The palate is full bodied IPA, balanced well. The cigar cedar parts of this beer take a great beer to all-star/hof status.
