3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Santa (Beerlando). Pours a cloudy coppery orange with a fluffy eggshell head. On the nose it is distinctly different, a bit sweet and cedar-like, though mostly it seems very woody and piney. The hops are fighting the wood to come through. On taste, it has a sweet woody start that reminds me of chewing on toothpicks or wooden coffee-stirrers. Then the hops kick in for the fight with citrus notes and passionfruit coming through as well with minimal graininess. Finish is dry. Very interesting, though not quite what I was expecting. Nice.

4.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
ThiS is one of the most interesting ales I’ve ever tasted. The appearance in the glass is simply amazing. Brownish red with no foam when pour. The aroma is not to earthy or overpowering. Subtle hints of citrus and fruit.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2010 bottle. This is a beautiful beer. pours an orange brown with a nice big long lasting foamy beige head. leaves some nice lace on the glass. aroma is like walking into a a humidor where caramel and grapefruit are being sold. Flavor is a big cedary, pine mixture. nice body. big and creamy mouthfeel. This beer is very well put together. More depth than the regular jai alai. Hits on a lot of different cylinders. Between this beer and japanese classic, i have a new found respect and love for cedar aged IPAs. This beer is awesome.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 750 ml bottle. Dark orange murky pour with a sticky off white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Fresh fragrant aroma loads of spruce and hints of mint and just a brief mention of the cedar that is prominent in the flavor. Excellent flavor with some nice subtle juicy grapefruit notes. some mint, a touch of apricots. Cedar notes are prominent and blend in nicely. Balanced somewhat with some malty notes - but is just a bit leaning more to the hoppy side - but no complaints. Mouthfeel is full, with just the right amount of potency and stickiness. Well done.

Draft @ Brick Store - This was pretty freakin’ tasty. Cedar does interesting things to an IPA and it works so well together. Gives a definite unique earthiness that works really well with the already floral hops. Lots of tangy fruit flavors here running the gamut from peaches to apricots, and it just works all around, could have been a little happier with a bit more maltiness, but this was delicious for a glass.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
25.4 oz bottle. Cloudy orange with a pocked ivory head. Nose is pink grapefruit, mandarins and Juicy Fruit gum with that beautiful CCB cedar spice. Medium body with a tang. Taste features prominent cedar, grapefruit pith, apricot and finally pine. Maybe i got spoiled by the guava version but i found this a bit too weighted to the spicy hoppy side. Still among my top IPAs.
