On tap at Rattle n Hum. Sampled this right after the Raisin Cookie brown ale. This is a compliant, more simplistic brown from Cigar City. Good but not over the top.
1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 Boutip (3979) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 21, 2010
Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a medium foamy head. Aroma is dominated by cedar notes which gives the impression that loads of pepper were used in the making of this beer. Taste is quite astringent with loads of cedar and a spicy peppery feels which is not that enjoyable. I guess some of the caramel malt is noticeable though quite hidden by the cedar notes. Overall I can’t say I really enjoyed and must admit that this experience should not be repeated.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2010 tap @ RnH - chocolate, raising and cinnamon spice. A well balanced brown ale. some toffee and caramel, biscuity malts. Cedar comes through nicely.
rerate: cask at RnH - very woody and dry tasting.

Draft at RnH. Pours brown with a beige head. Light roasty aroma with a hint of malty sweetness. The flavor has light roasted malts and some sweetness, as well as cool woody notes lingering in the background.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Slipstream (1776) - USA - FEB 20, 2010
Cigar City takes the Big Apple by storm! On tap at RnH. Ruby hilites in the pour. A sweet, lightly smoky, woodsy aroma. A pretty dry and woody BA (due to the cedar aging, I guess), but it is nicely balanced too. Another winner from CC.

750 ml bottle; thanks to secret santa for the trade; pours glowing brown with thin white head; light lacto on the nose with oatmeal, spicy cedar and chocolate; lovely soft texture again from a humidor beer so maybe that’s a great characteristic of the cedar; dark fruits, chocolate, juniper berries and again a very faint lacto sourness comes out; not in a sense that is too distracting; chocolate and dry cedar on the finish; pretty nice overall with a nice light cedar level (in terms of flavor)

On tap at Rattle N Hum for their Cigar City event. Pours a clear dark ruby brown with a thin white head. Spicy cedar over malt, toast. Medium bodied, with a subtle and gentle carbonation. Spicy lingering wood on the finish, the cedar is excellent here.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 italarican (1046) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 18, 2010
Tap at Rattle n’ Hum. Deep amber pour. Aroma is of smooth cigar smoke, roasted almonds, and dark chocolate. Flavor starts out immediately with red pepper, followed by oak, smoke, and chocolate malt. There’s a strong cedar presence at the end. The finish is spicy with a bit of a sharp mouthfeel. I kept coming back to the word "sharp." A spicier version of the Maduro Oatmeal Brown.
