4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 edecambra (6) - Florida, USA - FEB 4, 2012 does not count
Pours like dark matter. Thick as motor oil with a burnt brown head. The aroma is earthy and dark roast coffee, with a bit of soy sauce. Flavor is bitter roast with lots of complex malt roastiness, the cedar gives great earthy, leather notes, too. Mouthfeel is just like it looks, sticky velvet that gets everywhere, in the best way possible. This is damn good, drink some!
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Boliv (964) - New York, USA - FEB 4, 2012
750mL bottle from a trade with tricyclist, stamped SEPT2011 TWOEIGHT. This pours very thick, oily, and opaque, with a creamy 2-finger dark brown head. Nice legs here. Aromas of tobacco and cedar waft up from the glass, with wood chips, dark cocoa nibs, and espresso present as well. Huge cigar and tobacco notes. This evokes childhood memories of my grandfather’s business meetings in Bolivia; lingering cigar smoke mingling with rich cedar and mahogany woodwork in his office. The flavor is massive tobacco and cigar upfront, with plenty of cedar, humidor smoke and woodiness, and underlying sweet chocolate and cocoa/mocha. The finish brings slightly tart and bitter espresso with some roasted malt. The aftertaste is pure cedar. The mouthfeel is smooth, rich, and creamy, with a dry finish. This is very easy-drinking, much more than the original Zhukov. With amazing cedar notes and subtleties, this is, quite possibly, the best beer I’ve had to date. Thanks! [951]

Huge thanks to Dmac for breaking this out. Pours black with a small, fading dark brown head. Aroma is of chocolate, some alcohol, raisin, and plum...not getting much cedar on the aroma, maybe milder than regular MZ? Taste is very complex, thick and chocolatey body. Notes of maduro cigar, raisin, dark chocolate truffle, and some mild earthy notes. Great brew.

Poured from a bottle into a CBS snifter.
A. Pours a dark black, mocha brown head the settled to a light foam layer.
S. Smells of chocolate, toffee, and a little caramel.
T. Tastes of milk chocolate, light toffee and caramel with a mild hop profile showing.
M. Very thick and chewy, malty and very sticky finish.
O. Super good beer. Amazingly simple and pleasureful beer, chocolate in the right amounts, a great RIS and well made. I will be looking for a bottle of this in the future.

Holy cigars! Dark body with no head. The tobacco and cigars come through alot in the tatse. If you don’t like cigars, don’t drink it...
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 dmac (2501) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - JAN 19, 2012
750 ml bottle from Smith4498 via trade, thanks a million. Poured a great looking pitch black oily body with a slight bubbly super dark brown head. Head started off small and quickly faded but with slight agitation it comes back with a vengance. Aroma of super burnt malts, soy sauce, cola, vanilla, freeze dried coffee beans. Very syrupy body with soft carbonation and a lingering syrupy burnt yet sweet finish. Flavor is great with notes of burnt malts, soy, hint of olives, raisins, dates, toast, and a touch of sour vanilla extract. This is a great beer but had some resemblance to a quad in my eyes with the fruitiness and no trace of cedar.
