COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Humidor Series is a rotating offering of Cigar City Brewing beer aged on cedar. We change the offering for every release so that more of our beers get to luxuriate in cigar box cedar.
Cedar has a more subtle effect on beer than more traditional woods like oak. But, we think that once you taste it you’ll agree that cedar deserves a place along side oak in the brewer’s wood-aging toolbox. Humidor series beers will vary due to style, but are always a good option for pairing with a fine cigar.

Hand-bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of cedar wood as well as medium notes of roasted malt, smoke, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of cedar, roasted malt, smoke, as well as medium notes of soy sauce, roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a very dry, roasted, cedar wood, and alcoholic finish. Thanks a lot MadsBerg for sharing.

Hand bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madsberg. Pours a pitch black with a creamy brown head. Very spicy aroma - must be the cedar - with lots of burned malt and vanilla. Solid body, hard roasted malts, vanilla and pumpkin accents. Malt astringent finish. Amazing one. 161209

Smooth into the far finish with wood, vanilla, chocolate and dark roasted malt.

Bottled@The Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBF tasting. Quite much pitch black colour with small beigeish brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some mild wooden notes as well as alcohol, syrup and quite much liquorice. Flavour is quite much the same along with some nice roasted notes and mild tarry notes. A very pleasant Imperial Stout.

RBESG 2010, Grand Tasting, bottle
Black oil color; the darkest brown head ever seen. Aroma of roasted malt, very peppery, leathery too. Strong roasted malt and liquorice flavor, strong body, the mouthfeel is a bit oily; peppery, with black coffee too. The final is strong but less bold than expected; too much roasted malt and coffee. Very good, original, not impressive.

Bottle @ RBESG, Rome. Pours pitch black with a small creamy lasting dark brown head. Nose is very complex. Fruit, wood, chocolate, liquorice and chocolate. Heavy roasted flavor. Vague chocolate and loads of bitter roasted coffee. Quite ashy and peppery. Very dry and lasting end. Smooth and warm. A big beer . .

Bottle at ChrisO "I’m Trying to see the Stool" pre GBBF2010 tasting. OK, this wasn’t intentional but I seem to have given this beer the lowest score. Black with a thin tan head. Too much cedar for me. It even flirts into Palma violets on the finish. I mean there just isn’t enough of the base beer coming through, so it’s completely out of balance. I guess I just don’t like cigar boxes. Sorry Ken. But thanks for bringing it.
