Bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is strong peat, wood, chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with strong smoke, peat, wood, dark chocolate, light dryness. Very good.

Bottle shared by Brian. Light smoke in the aroma and burnt malt flavor. Too much roasted character overwhelms other flavors. OK.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/21/2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, smoke, cedar, tobacco, light char/molasses, light leather, light raisin/plum, and roast/smoke earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, smoke, cedar, and light fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, smoke, cedar, light char, tobacco, light char/molasses, light leather, light raisin/plum, and roast/smoke earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roast, coffee, smoke, cedar, tobacco, light char/molasses, light raisin, light leather, and roast/smoke earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, cedar, smoke, and light fruity ester flavors; with a good roasted malt bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent smoked imperial stout. All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, smoke, cedar, and light fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

25.4 oz bottle. Ebony with a thick cap of tan foam. Nose is cedar, molasses, smoke and prune. Medium body with fluffy carb and an oily finish. Taste is caramel, dark chocolate, smoke and cedar. Hints of dark fruit; the cedar adds a lingering spicy buzz.

Bottle @ home, thanks to arminjewell. Pours a black appearance with a thin dark brown head. Definitely a ton of spicy cedar wood in the nose. Thereís some smoke, dark chocolate, and earth as well. Smells quite nice. Really nice body and mouth feel. Kind of chewy. Dark chocolate candy bar flavor with some campfire smoke and a bit of coffee. Spicy, cedar aftertaste. Quite dry. A ton of cedar. Cool brew.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Paul! Dark black pour with dark brown head, aroma brought notes of big cigar box, cedar, oak, roast, nice smoke in there as well into some dark fruit, molasses, slight metallic note in there as well but not bad, slight earthy note in there. Taste is a mix of lots of oak, cedar, dry earthy notes with a slight metal note into some nice roast, molasses, dark roasty tones into some coffee bean, finishing fairly oaky, dry, very tannic.

Very strong but pleasant cedar on the nose. A bit of soy. Appearance: dark brown with creamy khaki head. Taste -- this left a little to be desired; smoky wood in precarious balance with a cloying sweetness. Either of the flavors would be way too much on their own if they didnít have the other to reign it in a bit. A little bit of umami flavor comes in with the smoky cedar at the beginning, but is flushed out at the end by the strong sugars. Creamy mouth feel etc.

Ridiculously rich dark brown coloured body with literally no light coming through at all, even on the largest of angles. Thick, three centimetre tall oily rich brown head and a nice lace on the glass - an amazing looking beer for sure. Aroma of stupid complex scents with by far cedar coming out the strongest - you can smell it a mile away. Rich coffee, roasted malt, oak, vanilla, aniseed, walnuts and more cedar - not too much sweetness noticeable. Full-bodied; Rich smoked flavour at first with some soy sauce notes, hints of oak and vanilla, but a lot of cedar and woodsy, herbal flavours and again, not sweetness noticeable in the flavour. Aftertaste shows some oatmeal, earth, coffee, anise, cherries, milk and perhaps a touch of toffee, but still a lot of cedar. Overall, a very nice looking and smelling beer, but after that, it loses itís edge quite a bit. The flavour is nice, if predictable, but there could be more complexity, more sweetness, more malts and a deeper nutty richness, but it hits at first and then fades off entirely. I donít like beers with high reputations, but at first this met those expectations, but tailed off once you have a sip. Still, a nice beer for sure, just not anything worth getting super excited about. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Corner Store (Bait & Tackle) in West Palm Beach, Florida on 30-December-2013 for US$14.99 sampled at home in Washington as part of my 4500 beer celebration on 03-May-2014.

Bottle from MeadMe, thanks for the opportunity! Solid opaque blackness with a huge creamy and bubbly dark mocha head that persists forever. Huge cedar chest aromas are quite spicy. Some chocolate, caramel, light fruit. and roast deep underneath. The flavor is rich roasty chocolate caramel and molasses up front that is quickly shoved aside buy an ever intensifying spicy cedar flavor. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation, and a creamy sticky slick mouthfeel. Wow that cedar is really intense! I managed to finish my glass but it took a while. I donít think I enjoy the flavor or aroma of cedar.
