Draft at Brass Tap Trinity. Pours a near black with a dark tan head. Spotted lacing along the glass. Aroma has a good bit of cedar among the typical stout notes. Flavor is absolutely dominated by cedar. There a nice touches of roasty, smoky notes in the aftertaste but itís hard to distinguish much else from all the cedar. Very tasty and unique, but probably best in small doses.

750ml bottle pours with a classic deep dark body that supports a full chocolate mocha head of foam. The aroma offers up plenty of chocolate goodness rolling into sweet malts, dark roasted malts, earthy soft smokiness and a sliver of molasses. The taste is smooth and near silky as sweetened chocolate, sweetened dark roasted malts and earthiness unload across the palate. The earthiness grows to a modest level to midway amid pleasing chocolate notes. Toward the finish a soft mild smokiness comes to the surface to at just another tasty facet to this great sipper.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting. Deep chestnut brown with a modest beige cap. The nose is instant cedar chest; rich and potent. Not much else comes through, but at least itís fresh. Reminds me of a humidor (duh). So much cedar in the taste it pretty well overpowered anything else. Some hints of smoke and chocolate malt, but huge cedar soon takes over.

Bottle shared by Andrew - thanks! Thick viscous black pour. Meat, soy, chocolate, roast, smoke. Meat drippings the way CIB wish they could incorporate. Somewhat sweet, roasty chocolate smoky finish. Viscous texture. Iím into this.

750 mL bottle split at a tasting. Pours a thick super black with a fading oily brown head. This tastes like Kansas City. Super smoked barbecue smoked flavor. Delicious super thick body stout. Some tobacco notes to it, with some spice. Finishes really woody, with some more smoke. I donít think Iíve ever had a beer quite like this. Incredible.

Draft... Pours new moon-black with a large, creamy, dark beige head. Fantastic retention. There is so very much going on in the aroma Ė itís burnt, carbonic, loaded with espresso and dark chocolate, and a suggestion of coal smoke. Full-bodied and silky with soft carbonation. The flavor is a bold, in-your-face collection of blackstrap malt, pouch tobacco and coal smoke. Finishes bittersweet and robust.
