COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Mayan mythology, Hun Hunahpu was the father of the Mayan hero twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque. Hun Hunahpu, along with his brother Vucub Hunahpu, was tricked by the Dark Lords of the underworld and slain. Hun Hunahpu’s corpse morphed into a cacao tree, his head becoming a cacao pod, which in typically awesome mythology fashion, spit upon the hand of a young maiden named Xiquic who promptly became pregnant with the hero twins. The twins would ultimately grow up to avenge their father and uncle and defeat the Dark Lords and ascend the heavens to become the moon and sun. We brew Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout once a year and release it only at the brewery. We will continue to do so until the end of the cycle. Released on the second Saturday in March at the brewery.

Have had this fresh and aged. Drink it fresh the peppers are a bit more noticable obviously, and add that extra something to make this one stand out. With age it turns into a more typical yet still outstanding stout that has alot of viscosity and some good chocolate and caramel flavors.

2010 bottle curtesy of Matt, shared with Steve to celebrate a new job starting tomorrow. Viscous, opaque black with a dark brown head. Anice, dark chocolate, huge roasted malts, some booze, hints of vanilla and chilli. Full bodied yet smooth and somewhat creamy, starts slightly bitter, well carbonated, becomes a little more bitter with some sweetness from the vanilla balancing things out. A very good beer.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2015 Black beer, like oil. Good very dark brown head, holds decent but should be a bit bigger. Roasted, liqourish, good spiced, good hopped. Chocolate, coffee, the alcohol is there also for sure, but not overwhelming. Bitter, nice good holding chocolate aftertaste. This is good for sure, but ofcourse this style is my thing...

Pour from a large bottle thanks to my good friend Kan. Dark black in color with a small thin tan head. Aromas o peppers and cocoa. Full silky rich body in your mouth. Delicious complex and balanced flavors of coffee, vanilla, molasses, and spicy pepper undertones add to the mix.Long finish that is fantastic. One of my new favorite beers for sure.

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Jet black in colour with moderate carbonation and an odd coloured (beige with a hint of red) head. Aromas are of roasted malt, spicy pepper, raw chocolate, vanilla, and Mexican coffee. Sort of like a fancy spicy peppery hot chocolate in the mouth, along with more vanilla, red bean, and medium roast coffee. Heavy bodied, with the peppery heat providing some interesting balance on the palate. Amazing stuff.

Bottle thanks to Dstructo! Pours is super dark, thick with s small brown head. Roasted malts, raisin, chocolate and faint coffee on the nose. The taste is amazing. First I get the traditional imperial stout flavors (dark and crystal malts) followed by an amazing sweet chocolate flavor. Almost fudge like! Vanilla comes in lightly and finishes with the pepper heat. I didn’t really get the cinnamon. Awesome mouthfeel. So thick and creamy. Many beers today do not live up to the hype, however this one far exceeded my expectations. Excellent beer. I can’t wait for it to come out again so I can try it very fresh to get more heat from the peppers!

RBSG 2010 on the bus to Ypsilanti. Lame notes from notepad on my ipone. I saw the bottle! Black! Smells warm and wonderful. Mounds of this stuff: rich chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, ancho peppers (I was told this is what I smell), earthy, licorice, light vanilla - simply amazing. Taste: Heat!, chocolate, earth, candy, has some hot chocolate, light smoke, licorice, cinnamon. Smooth mouth feel with a wonderful light heat lingering. Excellent excellent beer.

Pours clear (?) black with a small dark brown head. Complex but well-balanced aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, "drop" and alcohol. In the taste again roasted malts (coffee, choclate), salted liqourice (umami), some spices and alcohol. Low carbo, great body. Superb! Thank you drowland.

Thick dark brown head over what is apparently motor oil. Sweet, very alcoholic nose, with quite some vanilla, and other, difficultly to place fine aromas. Speculoos liquified, spiced, peppery, speculoos herbs (cinnamon, allspice, vanilla,...) Surprising and excellent; in the finish the spices become really Tex-Mex with chilies of different kinds. Sharp, spicy, hot and yet pleasing; quite well-bodied. Mole sauce in a beerbottle. Admittedly, the contents of this bottle justifies the Florida Cigar City craze to at least some extent. Many thanks to Evan & Matt!
