COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Mayan mythology, Hun Hunahpu was the father of the Mayan hero twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque. Hun Hunahpu, along with his brother Vucub Hunahpu, was tricked by the Dark Lords of the underworld and slain. Hun Hunahpu’s corpse morphed into a cacao tree, his head becoming a cacao pod, which in typically awesome mythology fashion, spit upon the hand of a young maiden named Xiquic who promptly became pregnant with the hero twins. The twins would ultimately grow up to avenge their father and uncle and defeat the Dark Lords and ascend the heavens to become the moon and sun. We brew Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout once a year and release it only at the brewery. We will continue to do so until the end of the cycle. Released on the second Saturday in March at the brewery.

First beer in my new room in Aarhus. Shared with my roomie Niels. Pours good old black with one of the darkest almost redish brown heads I’ve ever seen. Stunning! Aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa beans, dark dried fruits, cinnamon, sweeter liquorice, rear cigar, vanilla, a note of leather also and some weak spicy/earthy notes. Taste is more roasted and the chili really strikes through in the aftertaste in a pleasant way. Also followed by the cocoa beans, chocolate, liquorice, weak tobacco, alcohol in the back of your throat. It also has that salty quality to it, some espresso notes and dark dried fruits here aswell. I can’t really get the persilla. - Maybe a slight planty thing in the back. Big and full of inspiring nuances! Really diggin the chili in the end featuring the creamyness!

2011 I decided to crack open tonight. Pours dark oily brown. At first it looked totally non-carbonated, but as I continued to pour a mass of small, foamy bubbles erupts from below, almost like nitro. The head is dark reddish brown, probably the darkest head I’ve seen. Coats the glass like motor oil. Cool looking beer. It also smells and tastes amazing. A dark and musty aroma, some cherry, bleu cheese. Taste is bright and fruity up front, with a sweet syrupy side to it. Some roasty bitterness. Coffee. Lots to grab onto. So good.

[5698-20130817] Bottle. Roasty fruited smoked chocolate aroma. Black body with a quick foamy light tan head. Chocolatey Worcestershire sauce roasted soya flavour has a long-lasting roasted aftertaste. Full body. Good. (8/3/8/4/16) 3.9

Bottle: Oily, deep black body & thick looking like all Cigar City stouts. Creamy, velvety, deep tan head fades quick to a super thick, chunky collar. Aroma is nice & complex; deep chocolates, both sweet & slightly bitter, roasted malt, leather, light cinnamon, a hint of chili pepper spice, almost like green peppers, & a bit of brown sugar with some faint cream. Taste is pretty nice; creamy with a nice mix of chocolate & cinnamon graham cracker. Think Teddy Grahams. Light vanilla, brown sugar, bittersweet cocoa, & a finish with a light hint of cinnamon sticks. Chili peppers are very faint, not leaving any real spiciness on the palate. Hint of roast, lingering cinnamon in the aftertaste with a touch of sweet milk chocolate. I really enjoyed this one.

Horizontal with some other whales: Dark Lord ’12, Darkness ’13, Cinnamon Roll’d Wake ’n Bake ’13, Hunahpu ’14 -- Poured into a snifter sampler. This beer is phenomenal, my favorite of the four listed. The complexity with the spices and adjuncts is just incredible. The closest thing I’ve come to a perfect Stout.

Schokoladig malziger Antrunk mit an Weihnachten erinnernde Aromen. Leicht dunkel fruchtig, minimale Schärfe. Vollmundig, auch im Nachgeschmack weiterhin sehr malzig. 11/13/12/13/12/13
