3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fletchfighters (821) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 21, 2012
A-- Poured a dark, somewhat murky brown color, not real pretty looking at all. Just touches of orange red on the sides of the glass. Off white head that is mostly just film on this. Film stuck around through drinking.
S-- Stranahan barrel signature. Vanilla and Carmel is very evident. Oak, whiskey, sweet milk chocolate and touches of rum. Very desert like smell.
T-- Milk chocolate, vanilla, carmel, and touches of Oak and whiskey.
M-- Not all that heavy and thick. unlike other CCB offerings. Very sliky smooth in the mid and back palate, along with the lactose sugar, chocolate, and vanilla. Front is more about the barrel and whisky. Slightly high carbonation but good enough for a porter. Alcohol is well hidden.
O-- Good desert beer. Another review mentioned Left Hand Milk Stout and it is a good comparrison. Silky smooth and a lot of character. Easy to drink and well hidden ABV. My guess is about 7-8%. Barrel enhances the beer well and adds a lot of good flavors to this. nice, nice beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and faint coconut. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small khaki head that leaves behind some sporadic webbing. The flavor starts with chocolate and caramel. There’s a big lactose backbone. The finish has vanilla, faint fruit, and a touch of oak. Whiskey notes are minimal. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a soft mouthfeel.

Bottle via trade shared with pineypower. Poured a dark brown body with a smaller foamy beige head. Aroma has big whiskey notes coming through tempered by chocolate and dark malts, oak, vanilla and a touch of honey sweetness. Medium to fuller bodied, average carbonation along with a light touch of warming on the end. The flavor, although good, isn’t quite as good as the aroma, notes of dark chocolate pudding skins, vanilla, whiskey, barrel, dark toast, white chocolate moose brownies. Very smooth and really good stuff.

A big thanks to MeadMe for spoiling me with Cigar City goodies in our last trade, I owe you one!
Pours a solid dark brown/black color with a bubbly tan head that slowly dissipates to a ring on top. The aroma is sweet with sugar and whiskey with lots of char, roast and caramel in there for good measure. The flavor is a bit on the sweet side, lots of sugar and caramel mixed with some roast, oak and a sweet whiskey flavor. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet almost sugary mouthfeel. I enjoyed the hell out of this beer. If I had to fault it I would say it leans a bit on the sweet side, but I like em like that.

Dark rich pour. Aroma has some whiskey, wood and a touch of fruit and sourness. Flavor has a bit more of the sour milk aspect to it. Whiskey and grapes, seemed to be an odd mix of flavors. Didn’t blend well for me.

Pours a dark black color with a paperthin head, decent lacing throughout. Aroma is all whiskey, not a bad thing at all oak and whiskey with some vanilla in the back. Taste is whiskey up front and sweet chocolate and vanilla that follows. Mouthfeel is smooth but I couldnt drink a ton of this. Thinner than other milk stouts or impy stouts but not a bad change of pace. I’m really glad I tried this!
