So, what you have here is a high gravity porter brewed with lactose and aged in whiskey barrels. It tastes like catching your favorite song on the radio with hints of the parking meter expiring, but not getting a ticket. It’s good.

Pours black with a creamy brown head that laces. Nose is strong on the whiskey barrel with chocolate milk, roasted malts and touch of smokiness. Flavor on the sweeter side with a good amount of milk chocolate, mild roast and whiskey/barrel spice in the finish. Very nice beer with great barrel character to it.

Poured from 750ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a bit of tan foamy head. Aroma is lots of roasted malts and rye from the whiskey. The barrel is pretty prevalent in this one. I did not get much of the lactose or sweetness that I would have expected.

Black color with fleeting tan foam. Vanilla, whiskey, wood, chocolate, dark roast aromas. Light to medium bodied with average co2. Nice sweet vanilla, dry bitter chocolate flavors with sugared up black coffee, dark roast malt. Spicy boozy twang to finish--good

Wish I knew who brought this one...aggressive and tear-creating nose that was heavy on whisky, cocoa, and wood. Flavor much more mellow, although still assertive, showing molasses, vanilla, oak, Godiva chocolate, dark roasted Starbucks, and caramel. Mellowed as it warmed. Not nearly as sharp. Medium mouthfeel. Enjoyed it.

Bottle pour to snifter. Dark brown with a nice mocha head. OK lacing, kinda chunky and sticky. Aroma is lots of boozy notes, tones of vanilla, Oak. Taste is more whiskey, lots of oak. Some chocolate, roasty malts. Smooth mouthfeel. Pretty nice beer, but too much barrel.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Pour is dark reddish brown thanks to Caleb for the pour, aroma brings notes of vanilla, booze, some slight chocolate and toffee notes, hints of slight dark fruit in there. Taste is a bit better, with notes of vanilla, whiskey, some slight chocolate, but not a whole lot going on in there. Pretty basic, nice stranahans barrel character but a bit too much.

Bottle at Black Friday tasting. Aroma-bourbony, but not boozy. Flavor is pretty nice-coffee, slight compost. Chocolate comes in late. A bit thin.

Bottle to tulip courtesy of Tricyclist. Strong whiskey notes on the nose, probably too much. Roasty notes on the nose as well.Very Also contains some chocolate notes. Dark black pour with medium tan head. Heavy bodied with some astringency on the finish. Was bottled on 7/3/11. Its been about four months. I would probably recommend giving it 6-8 months before opening it so the heat from the whiskey could diminish slightly

Bottle at Theis tasting. Pours brown with a light brown head. In the nose theres notes of caramel, vanilla, chocolate, whiskey, oak and hints of spices. The flavour is even better with added notes of raisins, rock candy and tobacco. Lovely brew!

Sample from Nate at world of beer - tampa palms. Pours a deep brown with a small dark cream head. Aroma is boozy, whiskey, caramel. Flavor is strong booze, but it mixes well with the roasted malt flavor. Caramel sweetness, or burnt sugar is also noticed in there. The body is a good medium with a nice mouth feel. Over all, I always enjoy this one, whenever I have a chance
