4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lmndrsn (25) - Philadlephia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 27, 2013Wow, oh wow. On draft at Hawthorne’s. Incredible aroma. Vanilla, oak, little bit of maple syrupy sweetness. Looks like used motor oil, minimal head. Tasted like coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and sweet smoke, almost closer to a bourbon then a beer. Full, burly body, beautiful finish.

750 ml bottle shared by Kevin- thanks again! Pours a deep brown color, not quite opaque, with a small tan ring for a head. Very nice aroma; cognac, chocolate, dates, figs, toasted brown sugar, oak, toffee, and a hint of anise. Flavor of cognac, roasted malts, chocolate, toffee, figs, dates, plums, cranberries, and then some coffee on the finish. Medium-bodied, with an oily, coating mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Really well done. Kept getting better.

750 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours dark brown to black much like dirty oil with a few random bubbles. Viscous and sticks to the glass. The aroma has dark caramel, roast, chocolate, sweet cognac, wood and molasses. The flavor has big chocolate, roast, dark fruits, cognac, wood, molasses and some vanilla. Very smooth with a medium plus body. Very tasty.

Viscous black pour with a small khaki head. Big cognac and roasted malt aroma. Sweet sugar, licorice, grapes, and vanilla. Dark chocolate, notes of coffee, and some smoke. There’s a nice cognac and vanilla sweetness to the flavor. Oak, licorice, chocolate, and roasted malt. Light smoke, some coffee, and dark fruit. Really oily on the tongue.

Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured clear dark brown color with medium tan frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate, vanilla wood and cognac aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded with another very good stout.

750 ml bottle to oversized snifter (shared by me with the group; thanks burg326). Looks good; a viscous and opaque dark cola with thin mocha lacing. Smells good too; sweet and malty with a nice cognac presence. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Great stuff.

Bomber. This thing is really all over the map but all in all it isn’t that bad. Very thick viscous pour with nothing left to show for it. Chocolate all over the place along with some coffee and booze. There are some good pieces to this but it just doesn’t come together very well.

Bottle courtesy of kraddel, thanks! Almost completely black, small brown head. Aroma of bourbon, taste is similar beer characteristics are definitely in the background here.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2013 75cl, no mention of ABV, new exclusive American brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex Stout, roasted/sweet and slightly alcoholic/fruity, yet not too heavy, very balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, top class!, yet very expensive!

750ml bottle and on tap at brewvival ’13. rating from the bottle. pours like all the classic CCB imperial stouts with a rich, dense, glorious texture that sits deep black in the glass capped by a thin, dark beige head that leaves tight rings of lace. aroma is simply great with heavy notes of dark, baker’s chocolate, french toast, mocha coffee, and dark fruit notes of figs, raisins, and dates with notes of warm cognac, toffee, wood, and topsoil as it warms. flavor is where this one really becomes a stunner with deep, rich, roasted malts, espresso, black forest cake, and burnt maple bars up front backed by a shot of smooth cognac, dark fruits, hints of vanilla, and wet wood. palate is rich, silky smooth, and suprisingly easy to drink much like all the great CCB imperial stouts and maintains a great balance of sweet, roast, and subtle elements. overall, another winner from tampa.
