UPDATED: AUG 28, 2009 Re-rate. 750 Bottle. Pours deep red/brown with a huge frothy tan head. Nose is citrus hops, tangerine, bitter lemon peels, rich roast malt, spicy rye, oatmeal, loads of floral hops. Flavor is a spicy, hoppy, oaty, concoction with a HUGE mouthfeel. Nice hop bitterness in the backend. Very unique beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft @ OTH, CCB launch party. This is my jam. Canít wait for bottles of this. Pours a dark brown, tan head, fuzzy with some lacing. Resiny pine hops, a touch smokey, lots of spicy rye backed up with caramel, chocolate malt complexity. Smooth, creamy lush in the mouth, a nice hop bitterness in the finish. All the elements work together so well, a beguiling complexity.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft @ Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a ruddy brown color with a thick, tight off-white head. Nice sharp piney hop aroma with dark roasted malt notes that are well balanced with the hops. The palate has the creaminess that makes me loves rye beers. The taste starts with a resinous kick but backs away for a grainy tobacco-like flavor. This one stood out at the launch party.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at OTH for the launch party. Pours a dark brown color with a thick, foamy tan head that shows good retention leaving a sheet of lacing in its wake. The aroma shows nice citrus and earthy hops, to go with cocoa, and toasted caramel malt base. Hints of oatmeal and rye finish things out. The cocoa and toasted caramel come through in the flavor but are quickly balanced by the bitter citrus and earthy hops. The rye lends a crisp grain flavor and the oatmeal really smooths things out. Medium to full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel from the oatmeal and a long bitter sweet finish. Definitely one of the better india brown ales I have tried.
