Tap@ BJ’s - Clearwater, FL: Almost clear gold with a ring head. Aroma of juniper shrubs and nice grapefruit. Strong hop flavor with a little hairspray in the aftertaste. Not bad.

I honestly think that if I had to pick just one IPA to have from now on (thank goodness I don’t need to), this would be it. Hits you with the Hops right out of the bottle, and you get a nice subtle roasted nut scent, good organic/grassy on first splash, with plenty of citrus rind over the tongue. A bit of bitter and alcohol on the finish, fades slow and steady. The citrus of the hop is pretty. Drink this one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Entering older ratings.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2011 Rerate on a new bottle a couple a days later revealed the absence of the smoke and wood flavors. Guess the bottle previously tried was old. Glad i retried as it is a fantastic brew. Old rating: Bottle. Pours a cloudy burnt orange color with a think off white head and excellent lacing. Smells of vibrant citrus and pine hops with a good wallop of malts. The taste is the typical citrus and pine, but then there was good bit of wood or smoked wood flavor in the finish. Medium bitterness and a good balance of malts. For 7.5%, there was not even a hint of alcohol. Nice brew, but I think the wood notes threw me off a bit for an IPA to be considered in the upper echelon.

Tasted from a 12 oz. bottle. Thanks to Matt for sending all the CG beers. Golden orange in color and nice head. Fresh citrus grassy aroma. Nice mouthfeel. Medium body and not much trace of any alcohol. Good balanced mix of bitter hops and malt. Tasty finish. Solid IPA.

I’m so glad I live in Florida and can get this at my local market. Pretty dark gold with sticky head. Good floral nose and piney, citrusy, sticky taste. Refreshing mouthfeel and dry finish. Love it!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at WOB. Gold amber with small head. Citrus fruit aroma with wood and floral hop tones. Flavor follows in suit with some darker fruit additions. Sweeter than ideal, but a good brew.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is a highly addictive beer that may become the reason for repeated trips to Fla. One of the best IPA’s I’ve tried in a long time! Nice pale amber colour with a very thin head. The aroma is intoxicating with scents of Florida citrus and hot yeast rolls. Over the lips is pure heaven as the flavour of piney hops and sweet oranges rule the bitter end while light caramel and fruit sugars dominate the sweeter side. Super creamy texture and a slightly oily finish that lingers. If Cigar City would broaden there distribution and maintain the quality, they could dominate the beer world. Thanks to Baby Brother John for the six pack!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2011 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours an amber orange color that is ver clear and pretty. The beer has a nice cream color head that lasts. Aromas are tangerine, grapefruit, bread and sweet malts. Very inviting. Tastes are very clean and balanced with the malts up front and then pthe hop bitterness kicking in. The aroma hops are sweeter citrus, but the hops on the palate are a bit more bitter pine Not biting, but very nice in complement to the malts. This a very solid IPA, crisp and clean with a solid malt structure.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very malty IPA that pours a golden orange with a nice haze. The aroma is dominated by citrus and slight piney resin. The taste is deliciously hoppy but also heavily malted to balance it out nicely. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
