COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This “big” brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

Bottle @ Baran Cafe, Bergen, shared with the rest of the winning team of VANØ Bergen’s first pub quiz! :-) Pours a dark hazy orange body with a small white head. Nose is citrus, grass, apricot and hints of blue cheese and subtle caramel notes. Delicious, original and interesting indeed. Taste is extremely well-integrated tones of slightly skunky grass, apricot and melon, with soft hints of pine and yellow apples. Unusual profile, which I enjoy a lot. The balance is the most impressive here though; everything sticks together like a huge ball of taste, making it an arduous task to dissect the flavors enough for a review like this. One of the great IPAs out there for sure, although I prefer the Humidor version better because of the cedar touch. This is one hell of an American IPA, though.

A very good and rounded india pale ale. Nice colour and good head. Nothing bad to say about this beer, although the bottle is a bit large for one person. A very good way to spend a friday evening,

750ml bottle. Hazy amber with a thick creme white head that lace pretty good. A first hit of fresh tropical hops with grapefruit, mango, peach and mandarines with caramel and marzipan that settles down quickly and gets more mineral with wet stone and moist grass. Taste is pretty sweet and hoppy with mango, apricot, mandarin, grapefruit and caramel. This is no brainer hop and caramel candy. Medium body with soft and a bit mushy carbonation. Simple hop juice for the sweet tooth. Tasty!

Bottle pours light amber with off-white head. Aroma of flowers, pine, and citrus. Flavors of pine, spruce, grapefruit, and lemon-lime with a dry, very pleasant bitter hop finish. One of the best IPA’s I’ve tasted.

Dark amber with a white head. Aroma is slightly resinous hops, smells very fresh actually. Not quite like fresh cut grass, but something a little earthier. Flavor is intense and complex. Hops are definitely strong, but they don’t dominate the flavor like some over hopped IPA’s. There’s a strong malt backbone and almost a slight oak finish. This is an excellent IPA, and a new favorite for me.

Bottle. Amber with a medium white head. Not as "green" as expected but still a good IPA that was balanced. Medium bitterness with toffee, hops, fruit and with some notes of perfume.

Bottle from May 23, 2011; an awesome extra from Gription79! Pours hazy dark copper and orange with a creamy 2-finger beige head that falls to a small rocky head, leaving webby lacing. The flavor is sweet citrus peel and bready malt, with a bitter pine and spicy citrus finish. Well-balanced. Moderate carbonation, full-bodied and rich, and warming. Really nice stuff. Thanks man! UPDATED: MAY 2, 2014 Amber-orange-red, with a large white head. Big fruity citrus-fruity aroma. Also heavy caramel, grass and hops in the aroma. First the beer is rather bitter, but has a nice and long after(taste) of sweetness that lasts for a bit.
