COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This “big” brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

Can. Pours a copper color with white head. Hoppy, resiny, floral aromas. Big, fresh, hoppy, resiny, slight piney, slight citrus, bitter, earthy flavors. Very good IPA. I should have picked up more of these when I had the chance.

Hoppy and flavorful. Pours with average carbonation with typical hoppy aroma and hoppy taste with light floral flavor. Above average IPA overall. not quite up to a Bell’s Hopslam which is my favorite in this category presently.

330ml can from Systembolaget. Orange color with white head. Hoppy with peach, orange and some tropical fruits and also malty caramel aroma. I remember the aroma of the beer that I tried during the first CBC (2012) more floral and grassy hoppy. The taste starts hoppy, again I can taste the peach and orange aroma but the malts quickly balance the taste. It finishes bitter-sweet. Medium body with soft carbonation. Its like a light DIPA, very easy drinkable!

12oz can. The beer pours to a dark golden light amber orange color with a thick white head. The aroma has a strong resin, dank, slight grapefruit scent. The taste is also very dank skunky, resin & citrus. Overall a very good IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Deep golden color with a fine thick white head. Good lacing.
Aroma: Mild grapefruit hoppy and fruity.
Palate: Medium + body. Slightly sweet and a fresh bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Grapefruit hoppy and a bit tropical fruity on a malty back. Some alcohol coming up.
Overall impression: Ok easy drinkable. Many I would prefer before this one.
Personal stats: Can from Systembolaget in Strömstad, Sweden.

Smell of hop, pine, floral no orange peel. Cool cloudy but not quite opaque orange coupled with quickly dissipating head and medium-sized bubbles. The taste begins with hop, mainly piney hop. It then gets a sweeter finish. Floral and citrus but mostly pine. Thin body, lightish carbonation. I enjoyed my first CC brew

Been my favorite IPA for a few years now since I discovered this a few years back when they were bottling not canning. Was always intrigued with this brewery and followed thirst little evolution of a brewery posts while they were getting stared and wished I was still local. So yes I am a little biased as this brewery represents my home town of Tampa. This has always been my fave brew. Would give it a perfect rating but can’t bring myself to as this one has always straddled the line IMHO of IPA and DIPA since it’s inception. Clocking in at 7.5% abv and it is hidden. Good hop profile and very sweet malt backbone. Not quite an IPA but not a DIPA either. However a perfect hybrid of both. Hands down my fave. Enjoy!
