COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This “big” brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

Appearance: clear orange, with amber notes and a creamy light tan head which left lots of lace. Aroma: big citrus, with grapefruit and orange zest, some pineapple and mango, maybe passion fruit; under all that is a bit of graham cracker. Taste: as the aroma indicates, with the fruity hop notes dominating, but with a firm graham cracker/brown bread malt base. Finish: lasting, dry, and with medium bitterness; palate is nicely balanced, giving heft without being heavy. Notes: A darn good IPA. Seems very similar to the Bells Two Hearted Ale, in color, appearance, aroma, and somewhat in flavor, but with a slightly lighter palate. Can from Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida.

Poured in a teku glass from a can. Amber brown with a generous head Very subtle nose of pineapple and straw. That palate shows a sharp biting pineapple tartness that morphs into a crisp bitterness. Very good and apparent malt back bone to support the bitterness. Best fresh and cold.

Tasted from a 12oz. can. It poured a slightly hazy amber hue with a frothy orange head and streaky lacing. A sweet mango-citrushopped aroma with a tasty well hopped citrus malt taste. An enjoyable little local number on this FL trip. 🎉HAPPY 2015!🍺

An orange coloured beer, a head is medium and blond. The aroma is quite sweet but the amount of hops can be noticed, nicely balanced. The nose has caramel, grapefruits, peaches and some pine needles. Taste is caramelly malty, and at least medium bitter, citrusfruits, some fruits, pine needles in the end. Medium+ bodied, nice to drink. Good beer with nice balance even the caramel is quite strongly presented.

12oz can. Pours a bright melon orange and soapy white lace that coats the glass. Aroma is rich malt and spicy hops. Tasty blend of spicy and citrusy hops. Unusually complex hop character. I can sorta see where the big ratings are coming from.

A truly unique ipa with hints of apricots and generally a bit sweeter than most. The sweetness is balanced well with the citrusy, subtle piney flavor profile of top ipas. A must try.

Orange with low head retention, sweet fruity aroma and flavor, kind of mango or peach. Medium bitterness, medium light pungent but it gets balanced with the sweetness. I think I will get the six pack.

McWorta (721) - LUXEMBOURG - DEC 29, 2014
Mostly clear with light opalescence orangey coloured with a frothy iff white slowly fading head. Aromas of orange zest, light peach and pineapple notes with a dash of wood strawberries as well as a bready lightly caramelised malt note develop. A short effervescence builds the scene to a light slick textured medium bodied beer. Fruity sweetness like enveloped by a subtle yet noticeable malt bed like lightly caramelised peach or apricot hits the palate first which quickly draws attention to a clear fruity light floral hop bitterness. The finish is well balanced yet tending to the hoppy side.
