COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This “big” brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

Pours a burnt orange with a thin, frothy white head that leaves sticky lacing on the glass. Smells of pine resin, tangerine, and grapefruit. Taste like taking a big bite out of a fresh juicy orange. The hops balance the sweet tropical fruit notes, leaving a faint peppery bitterness on the palate. Definitely not as dry as most IPAs of this caliber. Very well made beer. Has a nice full, creamy, mouthfeel. Not overly crisp like some IPAs. I’m a huge fan of IPAs and this is among the best I’ve had.

Poured from a can. Pours a cloudy deep orange - amber with a thin head of white foam. Light carbonation with some lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet citrus and light hops. Light syrupy body. Very smooth full mouth feel. Just a hint of bitterness lingers following a malty finish. Very refreshing. Solid.

Pretty good IPA but considering CCB’s hype I was hoping for more. Pours from a can into tulip with 2 finger white head. Somewhat cloudy Amber appearance. Good aroma when the can opens but it doesn’t last through the whole glass. Slightly sweet? when it first hits the tongue which I wasn’t expecting. Pretty good IPA but not world class.

The beer pours a dark orange color with an off-white head. The aroma blends buttery sweet malts, pine, grapefruit, spruce tips, and orange peel. The beer’s flavor is mildly sweet, but there’s a bit more bitterness. The pine, grapefruit, and citrus rind also appear in flavor. The beer has a slick texture, but the mile carbonation keeps the beer from being too heavy on the palate.

Keg @ Hæmoriden. Hazy golden with a medium sized off white head with good retention and lace. Caramel, light cheese, apricot, mandarin, green plants, honey, sugar. Malty. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, medium sweet and light/medium bitter. Malty and sweet for the style and not that punchy on flavour.

On tap at TCBW 2016. Amber colour. White, modest head. Sweet, apricoty, citrussy aroma. Peachy at first. Hints of fruits and tea in the middle. Also some bitterness. Citrussy finish. Very well drinkable, but did not surprise.

On tap at TCBW 2016. Clear amber with an off-white head. Hoppy aroma with notes of tropicsl fruits, pine, caramel and malt. Medium sweet with hoppy flavours and a decent bitterness. Quite tasty, but a bit too much on the sweet side for my taste.
