Bottle/12oz - Pours a quite dark brown in color with a small tan head that fades, but produces some minor lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark and very darkly roasted (burnt/smoked) malts along with just a hint of chocolate. Flavor follow, but adds both the flavor and bitterness of floral and pine hops. Lingering roasted malt and ash flavors along with some nice hop bitterness... I like this one!

Brown pour with a nice tan head. Lots of lacing. Slight pine nose. Though this beer says ’robustly hopped’ I don’t get much hops here. Could be an older bottle or it could have baked in the delivery truck. It’s good, but not quite what I was expecting. Really nice mouthfeel and nice balance of sweet malt to bitterness in the finish.

Bottle in drop off trade with UD. Thank the gods for you Ser! My first good beer in over a week of beer hell in Mexico. May this serve as my ode to Porter: Black and slick like a gangster ridden midnight ride. Bitterness colludes with the chocolate roast and barely covers the citric twang that is the third underlying tone. Thick and intricate lacing is left behind like cobwebs thick in the basement ceiling. finishes in its own time but ends abruptly with hardly any after twang.

Pretty good porter. Pours dark dark brown with a tan head and good lacing. Smell is a little roasted chocolate but faint. Taste is big coffee taste with a citrus hop background that works well with the smooth, medium body. Decent porter.

Bottle pours deep dark amber with ruby edges. Small tan head with fair retention, leaves a goo lacing coat. Nose of roast and grass, hint of orange rinds. This the continues, but the roast comes off with slight astringency. Bitterness cuts through and the finish is drying with grass and flowers.

The Jose Marti is a nice looking porter. It has a darkness to it, along with a brown head that dissipates to form a thin lacing. The scent is pleasant, filled with dark malts, spices, bitter chocolate, hops, and a minor smoke aroma. As for flavor I noticed a strong malt character with a mild charred taste. There is a definitive bitter hop and chocolate notes that fade from intensity. The weakest notes are the smoke and hot spice. As I continued to drink this beverage the spices disappeared. The finish has a malty and a mildly bitter hop and a weak chocolate taste that linger to form the after taste. Overall this was a good brew. Its worth having.

Pours a deep black umber color with a two finger eggshell foam. Aromas of dark bitter chocolate, vanilla, and a trace of cherry. The palate follows the nose nicely but there is a good dose of sweetness that doesn’t really meld with the roasty earthy undertones. Nice flavors of coffee and wood on teh mid to late palate not bad.

Rating from 2010. Pours a deep dark brown with a nice tan head which falls to a ring. Smell is dark roasty malt, brown sugar. Taste is very roasty, rich malt and dry and bitter on the aftertaste. Medium body with nice carbonation - fine structure and smooth.
