Bottle… Berliner Bash on the Bay 2013… Lightly-hazed, dark brown ale with mahogany highlights and a small, short-lived, creamy, khaki head. Smells like bourbon and toasted oak with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with lazy carbonation. The flavor offers a lot of bourbon - lots and lots of bourbon - and lesser notes of chocolate, carbonic black malts and hop bitterness. Burnt, bitter finish. Growler courtesy of burg326!

Draft at Torst. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of chocolate, baked bread, vanilla, light wood and touch of bourbon. Body is a bit thin.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head and a bourbon and treacle aroma. There is a bourbon-laced dark molasses flavor that sticks to the palate. Maybe a bit too much bourbon, as it detracts from the dark malt.

Growler shared at Dark Lord Day (Munster, IN). Pours a deeper blackish brown hue, some plum glow, small tannish head dies to a film, laces small. Mellow haze, deeper brown body shows light. Aromas are some cocoa, dry roast, and mellow florals. Some oak, touches of spirit and vanilla. Roast, caramel, and a decent dryness. Touch of heat is a bit strong. Initial is medium bodied, a bit thin. Firm barrel presence, oak and some Bourbon. Oak, vanilla, and a bit roasty. Almost a dry minty spirit hit. Some nuttiness, earth. A bit richer roast, dry and cool quality as we finish up. A bit odd, a touch thin and hot. Some good flavors. Not bad.

Growler pour courtesy of Adam / burg, thanks. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin tan spotty lacing. Aroma is full of bourbon, oak, dark chocolate and malt. Mouthfeel is medium to light with notes of bourbon, chocolate, sweet caramel malt, booze and oak. Nice treatment.

On draft at Hunahpu Day. Pours a deep obsidian with an off-tan head. Nose is some roast, some bourbon, vanilla, some dark chocolate, and some oak. Flavor is similar- it’s interesting to see what the barrel did to this hoppy porter- roast, earth, some mild bitterness is still there, but there is also vanilla, oak, bourbon, and some of the chocolate character comes more to the fore. Light to medium in body and very nice overall.

Growler opens at Berliner Bash, poured a black color with aromas of roast, light earth and bourbon. Flavors are the same but mostly bourbon, light vanilla from the wood, but mostly bourbon.

On tap @ Třrst. This one pours a deep dark brown body with a small sidesticking kinda brown dense top. It smells really sweet and roasted. Lots of bourbon and chocolate here. Some raisins, cranberries and wood. Loaded with sweetness and definitely wood in the taste. Almost like drinking a barley wine in many ways. The bourbon has gone completely mad in this one. Wood dry with lots of dark black roasted flavors. Vanilla is really here also. Yeah, the bourbon has gone completely mad and taken over the little drops that used to be normal beer. A good alcohol burn in the finish here, refusing to let go of the tongue. Would have figured this was a way higher abv beer. If you like beer added a ton of bourbon, you’ll love this! 17.06.2013
