Bottle split at the Jack is back tasting, big thanks to Mr He Who Is Back for this number, 06/03/14. Black with a moderate tan covering that clears to the edge. Nose is rich chocolate, subtle BA effect, Bounty bar, woody booze and light bourbonics, pinch of spice. Taste comprises coconut shavings, rich chocolate, light booze, dark toffee fudge, light mineral pangs, spice. Medium + bodiment, fine carbonation. Solid stuff.

25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tan haze. Nose is bourbon, chocolate, wood and clay. Rich and creamy medium to full body with a tang. Tastes like a black and tan brownie; chocolate, butterscotch and coffee with lingering barrel notes.

Jack is back tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Paul. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Light palate, smooth, fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt, quite a light touch. Mild dark chocolate. Mellow.bourbon. Whisper of vanilla wood. Smooth finish. Well behaved and mellow for a big ba beer.

Leighton (11034) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2014
Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Paul. Pours deep brown with a frothy tan head. Lovely aroma, lots of burnt marshmallows, milk chocolate, a bit of torched wood. Medium to big sweet flavor with rich chocolate, burnt toffee, more torched marshmallows, figs, raisins, mild earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Lightly warming to finish, mild milk chocolate, toasted bread, more dark fruits, touches of burnt wood. Good one. Nicely balanced.

Scopey (6871) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 6, 2014
Bottle shared at Bruce’s. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is fudge, treacle, oily, wood, bourbon, vanilla, fruit cake and toasted coconut. The taste is bitter-sweet, aniseed, toasty, wood, bourbon, earth, cocoa, light vanilla, spice, warming alcohol and dark fruit in the background. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and chewy mouth-feel. Very nice on the nose, but barrel aging doesn’t improve the base beer much. Decent.

brystmar (1260) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 28, 2014
Dark brown -- nearly black -- pour yields scant manila lace. Good retention, though, and the lace swirls up top long after.

Heavy barrel character, super dry, pretty complex finish as it descends. Dark fruits, sweetness from the barrel, bone dry finish. Low carb. The 11% is completely hidden, even at room temp. Impressive.

Amazing barrel aged stout, good barrel notes, very subtle and extremely complex a rock star beer

burg326 (3704) - Florida, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Poured a dark black color with aromas of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, light roast, and some earth. Flavors were the same, decent thickness, light bourbon in the aftertaste. A solid barrel aged beer.

mcmd (314) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Pours dark black, not much head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate. Taste follows suit with lots of chocolate and vanilla/bourbon barrel but not abrasive at all, smooth with extremely well hidden alcohol. Great beer as usual from CCB
