750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and light smokiness, light oak and vanilla and bourbon, and a little dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the porter and barrel. Smooth texture. A good beer.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2013 Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a rather small frothy brownish beige head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with roasted malt, butterscotch hard candy, bourbon, vanilla fudge, coffee hard candy, bitter chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, moist soil, coconut milk, biscuits, caramel, hay and hints of ammonium chloride. Taste is sweet, bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, vanilla fudge, bourbon, charred wood, butterscotch hard candy, buttered biscuits, hay, bitter chocolate, nutella and moist soil. Mouthfeel is round, soft, tiny tart and medium to full bodied. finish is sweet, bitter and tiny sour with roasted malts, buttered biscuits, bitter chocolate, dark roast coffee, hazelnut paste, bourbon and moist soil. Very prominent bourbon character. Gets slightly over the top but who doesn’t like vulgar beers...

Celebrating All Hallows Eve 2013 with a bottle via hopscotch: Pours a very deep muddy brown with a quickly fading head and basically no lace, some oily legs. The aroma has striking bourbon barrel (booze, vanilla, oak, char), lovely dark fruits and inviting earthy overtones. In the tradition of CCB this displays lots of tobacco and leather notes which makes me happy. The taste is still a tad hot and raw but I see this going great places with aging as long as no "wildness" starts to occur... but I digress for this is drinking pretty damn good right now. Everything on the nose is found on the palate as well. The mouth feel is soft and oily but not heavy, a tad tannic which does lessen the enjoyment... I do wonder what the ABV is on this.... methinks 9+ at least. I dig this now and would love the see what a year or so would do for it.

750 ml bottle. Pours deep brown black and it is slightly oily with a thin tight soapy khaki head that rests to a wispy film and collar. Aroma has bourbon roasted malt chocolate vanilla some pitted fruit. Taste is roasted malt bourbon chocolate vanilla and faint prune and shows subtle bitterness. Palate is full rich and warming.
