Bottle:   Black, moderate sudsy beige head, nice lacing.   Bourbon, vanilla, graham cracker on the nose.   Very soft roasted malts, sweet soy, and dark fruit as well.   Very much Bourbon like on the tongue.   Sweet caramel and vanilla too.   Very smooth and enjoyable, but it is overshadowing the underlying Baltic Porter.   Certainly enjoyable.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Perhaps some porterish roastyed malts on the finish, but the barrel aging dominates.   Thankfully I enjoy Bourbon.   While the Baltic Porter is overshadowed, the other flavors are more than welcome.   Very tasty!

At Mikkeller opening in SF. A- solid deep black pour with a half finger of decently tan head. Good lacing. S- rich chocolate, coffee grounds, molasses, dough, grains, and BOURBON to start. Graham crackers, vanilla, licorice, marshmallows, faint saltiness. Some floral notes as it warms. M- light for a barrel aged beer. Carbonation is quite mild. Palate has a bite but is ultimately tame. Body is strong and sticky. T- grains, chocolate and strong alcohol up front. Dark fruits, black cherry, dates, licorice and a mild mince meat. Roasted malts are then followed by a hoppy resin and mineral quality that lasts through the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from some sort of TheAlum courtesy toss
Pours basically black with a good head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is Vanilla, oak, molasses, dark sugar & some brandy. Big and sweet smelling, kind of cool.

The flavor is rich and bourbony, sweet & fudgy with some molasses, brown sugar, and a good dosing of dark fruit.

Fun beer.
geeze.

750 ml bottle courtesy of a fishingnet trade. Thanks as usual, Ben! Shared at lushawn’s wedding. Pours a deeper dark blackish hue. Very near opaque, good ruby reddish dark glow in flashes on the edges and bottom. A good frothy tannish head is firmly sized, dies to a good filmy layer with good stick around and lacing. Aromas are a bit hot, toasty, and roasty. Some dark chocolate, tootsie roll like dark fruit mix, some vanilla, gentle heat and oak. Some black cherry, toffee, and coffee. Firm oak, firm spirit, a bit thinned and overrun I think in the nose. Initial is thicker on the palate than anticipated, good cocoa, roast, and toffee. The roasty dry element, decent spirit bite up front. Middle quickly moves to Tootsie roll, chocolate meets black cherry, some creamy malts but a bit thinned in body. Caramel, roasty malts, toast and carmelized elements. Decent spirit, barrel presence and warmth is fairly firm and a bit strong. Backend is toasty, a bit roasty, faint anise kiss moving on. Firm barrel, some sticky malts. Whiskey and vanilla, gentle warmth grows a bit more. Some warmth, tannic qualities, and spirit meets roast, toast as we finish up. Dark fruit dies out, body drops out. Pretty solid, a bit strong in the dark fruit department. Solid. Nose is a bit light. Looks good.

750 ml bottle shared by TheAlum- thanks again, Adam! Pours a deep, mostly opaque coffee brown with a small beige head. Bourbon is apparent but not dominant. Notes of dark fruits (berries, figs, dates), rich, layered chocolate, mild coffee, roasted malts, earth, oak, and vanilla. Medium-bodied, on the fuller side of the middle, with a smooth, rich mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Rich and tasty.

Bottle received in trade from MeadMe Pours a solid black with a decent sized tan head that dissipates quickly to a ring on top. Smells of rich dark chocolate and brownie batter if you drizzled some bourbon and vanilla on it. Hints of brown sugar and caramel round out the nose nicely. The flavor is rich dark cake batter with hints of cherry and raspberry. Vanilla bourbon and oak flavor add a nice bit of complexity to the flavor. Thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet creamy silky mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this beer, its a bit alcohol hot but it tastes so damn good I can put up with it. I wish I had a bottle to age.
