25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with a spongy beige head. Nose is black grapes, molasses, hay and dates. Slick and silky medium body with a tang. Taste is black olive, espresso and dark chocolate. Rich and decadent finishing with walnut. Good stylistic representation but kind of tame for CCB.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In bottle at Craig’s. Pours a black colour with a thin light tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, liquorice and a little burnt toast. Similar flavours with lingering alcohol, dark chocolate again and Ovaltine. Mild carbonation, light CO2 prickle and an oily mouth-feel. Quite bitter to finish. Lovely.

lots of taste of raisin and prune with a nice malts that is not too strong but has a good amount of substance in order to create a healthy drinking beer. the fizziness over-mask some the flavors but you can still taste the effort the brewers put into the beer.

Pours very dark brown with a thick mocha head. Aroma has roasty cocoa and a milky note. Flavor has dark fruit, cocoa, and faint bitter coffee...some burnt malt bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium/full and creamy with a roasty bitter finish that hints at cocoa and coffee.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap that poured a pitch black color with a thin tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, light hops, with a touch of coffee and smoke. Flavor is mostly roasted malt, which is nice, touch of pine, licorice, and smoke. Also had a nice dry finish that made me wanting more.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled from 0.75l bottle @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. A deep dark brown one with a small sidesticking beige head. Chocolate paper, cold coffee and cardboard on the nose. Also some sweetness here. Nice enough. Oh, really tasty flavors! Lots of chocolate, coffee, cardboard and sweet caramel. Yeah, a really good baltic that ends with subtle tones of licorice and cold coffee. It’s average to soft carbonated and has a oily to watery texture in the mouth. 12.05.2012
