Guava Grove is an American Sour Guava Ale that experiences three fermentations. Primary fermentation is conducted with lactobacillus, a bacteria that sours the wort. The secondary fermentation takes place when we add a saison yeast that is French in origin. The tertiary fermentation is spurred by the addition of one of Tampa’s favored fruits, guava. The acidity of this elegant ale cuts fatty foods and oily fish from the palate beautifully. Pairs well with mussels cooked in gueuze, ceviche, ferrines and rich, creamy cheese or cheesecake.

Bottle picked up at CCB. Pour is a hazy, light orange pour with a small white head. Nose is a bit subdued, with just hints of funk and fruit. Taste is a bit subdued as well, with nothing taste forward, a medium acidic sour. Decent, but not memorable.

Bottle in Colorado with adnielsen. Pours a hazy orange color with white head. Sour, plastic, orange, gross jolly rancher aromas. Sour, tropical fruit, moldy fruit, plastic flavors. Ugh, drain pour

Bottle @ home, thanks to markwise (or maybe Homer321). Thanks! Pours a hazy, darkish orange appearance with an off white head. The aroma is sweaty socks, bug spray, tropical fruit, plastic, funk, and wood/tannins. Oxidized, twangy, doughy flavor. Some cardboard. Lemon, passion fruit, tropical fruit. Not all that great but maybe it’s just mishandled.

2/20/15. 750mL bottle sampled during RBWG 2015. Orange pour with a nice khaki head, good lacing. Funky, fruity aroma, tropical fruits abound, nice sourness poking through. Great flavor, good combination of tropical fruits, plenty of sourness, mild funk. Delish!

Very nice. Cloudy orange pour with white head. Aroma is sour citrus and leafy greens? Taste is obvious but not overly strong sour.

Bottle to snifter. Cloudy orange pour with a sizable off-white head. Mild aroma of citrus zest and pickled vegetables. Similarly mild flavor - not hugely sour, but nicely tart, with the guava hanging in nicely against the lacto-fermented notes. Prefer this treatment to the original Guava Grove.

Bottle during RBWG Booze Buse 20/02/15 thanks to whomever supplied this juan. Hazed orange amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is mango, tangy tropical fruits, lactic tang, bretty, mandarin, soured citrics. Taste comprises soured mango pulp, light spice, damp straw, citric pith, tangy green berry. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid sour.

Bottle. Cloudy burnt orange hue, dense frothy head of sandy tan. Nose: guava, peach, hay, lemon juice, crackers. A pronounced lactic tartness meets peach and pear, unripe guava, dried lemon, a little funk. Very bright flavor, balancing sweet and sour perfectly. Fluffy medium-light body, pillow-soft. Tremendously drinkable.

Bottle. Orange pour with white head. Smell has lacto, sour and some off tones. Time hasn’t done this beer well; cardboard, balsamic, off sour tones.

Pours hazy apricot with eggshell head. Aroma is not strong but promises with malty and fruity notes. Flavor is fruity and somewhat sour with malty undertone. Texture has strong fizz an OK body.
