5 ounce pour on tap at Dark Lord Day. Aroma of smoked walnuts dipped in rye whiskey, boozed-up caramel corn. Appearance is black tint, oily, moderate viscosity, brown head. Taste includes sweet fruit, alcohol, wood-aged dimensions if depth, soothingly complex with deep flavors you can pick off one at a time: vanilla, oak, barley, caramel, and coffee. Palate is medium bodied and balanced. Overall: good not excellent.

750ml bottle, bottled 9/7/12. Shared with the local group. Hazy brown, slightly amber-red color. Thin khaki head. Good spread of dotty lace. Big complex aroma. Caramel, wood, lightly spice, light bright fruit notes. Awesome creamy smooth texture, light carbonation. Not hot at all. Flavor carries the alcohol. Minimal warmth, just a hint of a bite in the finish. Sweeter taste, lightly spicy, pretty rich and decadent, though. Great barley wine.

750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm- thanks again, Chris! Pours a cloudy amber color with a small beige head. Aroma of brandy, figs, dates, oak, brown sugar, caramel, and white raisins. Flavor of brandy, pralines, dates, pecans, toasted and caramel malts, and brown sugar. The flavor hits mostly the same notes but is toned down from the nose. Medium-bodied, with a malty, boozy mouthfeel and mellow carbonation. Really good barley wine. Iím going to homer this one up like Iím from Florida.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy brown with thin light beige head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells good too; sweet malt, vanilla, and brandy. Tastes like it smells with a flawless mouthfeel thatís exceptionally smooth. Incredible!

Bottle provided by Baron, thanks for the tick! Pours a murky brown in color with a soapy ring of head. Nose is boozy apple brandy with some notes of butter. There is also a decent amount of toffee and biscuit malt. Taste is very smooth, very light booze, light apple brandy, raisin, and rich malt. Moderate mouthfeel, light carbonation, no booze heat, and a moderate finish. Itís a nice beer, but I think itís slightly overrated. We had it side by side with King Henry and Cognac Church and Leon was the worst of the 3.
