Mahogany pour with a small off-white head. Interesting nose to this. Tons of banana, brandy, and vanilla. A heavy dose of brown sugar, lots of alcohol, some toast, and a bit of wood. The flavor is a bit harsh and boozy. Lots of brandy, some wood, vanilla, and sweet malt. A mild bitterness, some burnt sugar, toffee, and hints of dark fruit. Could use a bit of balance and less alcohol.

Bottle at Endo’s house, 25/05/13, thanks to Jason for liberating this one from source. Hazed mahogony brown with no head. Nose is dark toffee, wood, booze, sugars, dark fruits, dates, brandy notes, treacle toffee. Taste comprises booze steeped dark fruits, brown sugars, woody tones, dates, prunes, boozey sticky toffee pudding. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish. A complex barley wine that is well balanced, the brandy is pretty subtle, decent stuff!

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2012 75cl bottle @ ZZT V. Hazy red color, small off-white head. Smell malts, sweetness, barrel aged clearly. Taste malts, lightly alcohol, liquor, wood, barrel aging clearly, but to me the brandy BA is very close to bourbon, though I don’t know whether they’re close, but to me it’s very similar to bourbon. Anyway, it’s good! Full body, medium to full carbonation. Absolutely amazing!

Nice dark brown pour, deep tan head. Lots of sweet malt up front, the barrels turned down the hops a bit. Brandy notes, raisins, prunes, toffee. Damn good!

Bottle... Murky brown ale with a small, white, short-lived head. The bouquet furnishes buttery caramel, toffee and loads of apple brandy. Medium to full-bodied with feather-soft carbonation. The flavor is remarkably well-balanced - caramel, apple brandy, vanilla, oak and an awkward earthy component. Finishes earthy and a touch minerally. I enjoyed the base beer (Church on a Hill) and the Cognac Barrel-aged Church on a Hill much more than this treatment. I gotta go against the grain here, but not by much. Bottle courtesy of burg326!
